UEFA Champions League/Europa League 18/19/20 September *** Spoilers ***

United were pretty dire as usual. Thought Evra played extremely well though tonight. He's got a lot of stick over the last few months, but he linked up very well tonight.

I actually thought Gala were the better team over the entire 95 mins, they had far more control and balance to their team.

Created chances and had clear penalty shouts not given.

Did SAF just say they [Gala] didn't make any chances in the second half? Errr....

To be honest, He should be happy they've just about beaten Gala.

If United play like that against a woeful Liverpool side on Sunday, they'll get beat.

You won't be saying that at the end of the game if it's the case! :p

Not that I care who wins, I hope it's a good game

I expect us to be a lot better against Liverpool, and I expect Liverpool to be a lot better than they have been as well.

It's one of those odd games you can't predict (usually, anyway).

What do you mean you cant predict it? Liverpool will raise their game, we'll do something daft when defending a freekick and ultimately loose the game. Our performances at Anfield is one thing you can predict :(

A concerning performance against a tricky team. Glad to get the three points but it wasn't ideal.
About right

DDG saved what could have been a humiliating draw /defeat (with no disrespect meant)

Yes they probably could have had two pens - but as stated above Utd could easily have had 3 aswell

Bad finishing (and questionable ref decisions) cost both sides.

On the positive side they are probably the best other side in the group - so even thought Utd still have to venture "into hell" in the away game, the other four games in theory should be easier.

It also has to be said that they should be thankful that Carrick didnt stay down in the 7th minute, otherwise they would be a gk down for the majority of this game and the next.

Ive been saying this all week too - although at least now we have a striker who performs ok in Liverpool lol

edit - three pens given this season, three misses (from three different players) ....hmmm

Nani would have a hat trick of assists if someone could stick the ball in the net!!

Forgetting about the good chance he had of sticking the ball in the net and fluffed it badly lol

Is Fletcher really the right option? Making his return on a game where we're struggling and just about holding on?

Do Utd have another "holding " midfielder? Not really

Wouldnt chance Anderson in this situation, and Cleverley could do a job but its not really "him" yet. (irrespective of the bench options, which I havent seen)

He (Nani) certainly wasn't terrible, first half he was pretty bad but bar the ridiculous penalty he was pretty good second half, passing especially. Ironically enough Valencia was the exact opposite, very dangerous first half but woeful second.

Still yet to see RVP's wonderful passing ability that DM was banging on about last season as well because from what I've seen of RVP so far is the same that I saw of him last season in an Arsenal shirt - deadly finisher but tends to be on the periphery of games i.e. tonight he was nigh on invisible up there compared to Hernandez who came on ran about and should have scored a couple of goals thanks to his movement.

To be fair, when RvP is playing the withdrawn striker role, his passing is great, he was originally signed by Arsenal to replace Bergkamp, and up until last season, that was mostly how he played. It just so happens he's actually even better staying up top and just being there to finish chances. :p

Oscar>Pirlo, last night anyway by far.
He frightened the life out of them every time he had the ball and it's not surprising they took him out, that stamp on him was out of order.
Bit gutted we let the lead slip but Juve are a very good team, you can see why they haven't lost for so long, they have no weaknesses at all.
Whereas Chelsea have developed a big one in defence, there's far too much space available at times.
Mikel was pants last night too, he must've given the ball away at least 10 times.
Still I would've taken a draw v them before the game.

Chelsea's problem is accommodating Lampard in the 4-2-3-1. He is way too offensive when playing there and leaves massive holes in the midfield, leaving only Mikel to cover.

Not only that, as we lack any genuine width, were getting the full backs to push high up the pitch so all you have at the back when we lose possession is the two centre backs and Mikel.

I think this is why we play either one of Ramires or Bertrand as one of the front three, to try and provide some form of protection.

We need to invest in a solid DM to sit along side Mikel. Not sure why Robbie doesn't rate Romeu as he is perfect for that kind of role; he can pick a pass, good defensively and will provide good cover.

Ah well. Not too disappointed with a draw, just a shame we couldn't close the game out at 2-0 up. Taking Oscar off was a mistake as he was all over Pirlo and after he was subbed Pirlo was able to control the game more.
