UEFA Champions League/Europa League 19/20/21 February *** Spoilers ***

2-1 Arsenal tomorrow, Bayern to turn it around in the second leg though.

You sure about that??, Bayern iirc have scored 57 goals and conceded a miserly 7 goals from 22 games so far. So with that sort of record, god knows how we are going to break them down and get a goal let alone 2 goals to beat them:p

Saying that though, football is a funny game so anything can and could happen...hopefully we can manage a draw at home tommorrow night or even a win as highly improbable that is and hope for the best in the 2nd leg.

BTW Ze Germans have landed in London and are on their way to get some scoring practice for tommorrows game:p

Similar to when we beat Barca in the first leg a few yrs back when Fabregas was playing for us, only for us to go to Barca and get our backsides well and truly hammered:p.

You mean the game where RVP got red carded because the ref was a complete tool and we ended up losing 4-3 on aggregate? Hardly a hammering overall is it. :p

In not looking forward to this at all, if Ribery is playing I don't fancy him running at Sagna/Jenkinson repeatedly. Not sure our defence will be able to cope with the likes of Mandzukic either but I guess we'll just have to wait and see, anything can happen.

Muller is their man on form this year, honestly Ribery is utterly over rated over here for probably no other reason than Champ manager, Robben is good but being kept out of the side, Muller was epic in the world cup(he's young and got the golden boot, most assists, and he's as athletic as peter crouch... okay he's not that bad, his movement is second to none, he's not fast, his reading of a game is epic and he just does all the simple stuff so right sooo often), last season he was a bit off form, this season he's on 19 starts in the league, 11 goals(only 56 shots), 9 assists, he's their top assister, second top scorer, 2 assists and 7 goals more than Ribery, playing a similar position but Ribery with vastly more pace and agility.

I dont think Arsenal will get hammered like some people are making it out to be, i think they will draw at the Emirates and it's all up in the air in Munich.

Probably what will happen is that we manage to draw with Bayern tomo night but in 2nd leg at Bayern, we will be smashed into orbit.

I think people are slightly under rating Bayern, and over rating Arsenal, Bayern have dropped 2 points and conceded ONE goal away all season in the league, and have only conceded in two away games in Europe, drawing one, losing the other, they haven't failed to score away from home once all year, Europe or league.

Bayern got to the final last year, and have been a massively better team this year and have had a single bad game all season. AFter 22 games, they've got 57 points, enough to have finished 4th last season.

Bayern are EPIC this year, absolutely epic and better away from home, they've conceded 14 goals in league + europe, we've conceded 37.

Of course anything can happen, as always, but Bayern have been in form all season and have been epic, in goal scoring and lack of conceded, we haven't been any of those things, I can see us getting absolutely demolished tomorrow night. Milan in particular, but Barca as well are less good away and neither with brilliant defenses or came to Arsenal having conceded almost none that year. Bayern arrive having not failed to score in a single game all year, having conceded barely any, with a fantastic defence and fantastic offence. You really can't say because we scored against Milan or Barca we can probably do the same to Bayern, defensively speaking there is no comparison between them.

Nope talking about the game where we got hammered 6-3 on aggregate, which was back in 2009/10 iirc. In the second leg we got absolutely creamed 4-1 by Barca.

WE had precisely 0 shots before his sending off in the 57th minute, and precisely 0 shots after the sending off... though I guess he got sent off for his only shot of the game :p

20 shots to our none, 21 if you include our goal, or their own goal :p
They also had 76% possession.

I think when the other team feels sorry for you and scores an own goal, more than 3/4's of the possession, and you don't register a single shot it counts as a hammering.

The second game was painfully one sided, and overall Barca were fairly poor and, don't forget I think had 2 goals ruled out, or two offsides, actually I can't remember it was so long ago. Wasn't it the game(first one) where Song got a yellow early on, they did about 38 more yellow card worthy fouls and somehow never got sent off, and I'm sure there were 2 situations, penalties or offsides that never were denying stupid easy goals. Arsenal were ridiculously outplayed in both games, got insanely lucky, while Barca had a off couple games infront of goal and still beat us?

honestly, I see a battering tomorrow and only them resting players being a reason to not do the same at their place.

Way to cherry pick a quote. I'm sure he was more annoyed at the fact it was a pre Champions League match conference and half the churnalists just wanted to pick holes in the performance against Blackburn, like Arsene said, there was a post-match conference for that.

I agree with what he is saying, the press always try and undermine Mancini as well. Snide comments before every match all the time. That's why Platt will sometimes take them as he turns them round and says things back whereas Mancini doesn't.

That one particular bit though I just found funny.

It was kinda childish of him to be fair. :D

I just hate the way the media always take snide little digs at managers, whatever the club or the situation they could at least keep things vaguely on topic instead of bringing up crap which has happened last match/week/month/whatever. I found the stuff about his contract totally unnecessary as well, I know Wenger gets labelled as a moaner but imagine having to put up with crap like that constantly.

Have to feel sorry for them the media just put so much pressure on the managers undermining the manager.

So? As a manager just come out and say, this is absolute rubbish and have a go at the press. rather than ignoring it or getting angry, do it in a way to make the press look like fools.

AVB did it to the sun reporter.
"You and Lloris have had a bust up"
"How do you know? Have you spoken to him?"
"Well no, but..."
"Well then you do not know, there is no bust up, next question please"

Owned.

The Arsenal press conference was great. I really like Wenger and feel quite sorry for him despite some of the problems being his own doing. I don't think Arsenal are going to get hammered like everyone think. It'll be a pretty close game with a goal in it either way.

Wenger was a bit childish yesterday but I think you can allow a bad press conference after 15+ years of being very good to the press. It is concerning that he did bite back though, he usually stays calm.

Probably play well and get a draw tonight, it would be typical of us to do so, could be as many as 5 in Germany though

He was but i can kinda sympathise with him as the reporters were asking him about a new contract extension and then decided to ask him about our FA Cup exit...if it was me i would have all told them to go jump off a cliff then i would have just walked out.

Instead of concentrating on tonights game they wanted to concentrate on things other than Bayern...stupid pathetic journalists who should know better.

Anyhow looking at Bayerns last 5 visits to London, they havent won here, they have drawn twice and lost 3 times so maybe just maybe we might sneak a result in tonight but cant say i like our chances.

The thing that worries me the most is the fact that we might not even score as Bayern have a tough defence, in the league they have only conceded 7 times:eek:. And the way we fail to score at the best of times, it doesnt look anymore likely that we will score tonight.

I feel sorry for the Arsenal players ahead of tonight; Bayern are flying. Won all of their games this year, haven't conceded (iirc) and only allowed their first shot on their goal t'other match. Playing pretty incredible football this season.

I feel sorry for the fans more though, they've got to watch it.

Yes, one shot on their own goal in 5 odd hours of football.
