Some Arsenal news in, it appears that Fab is to start in goal as Almunia is injured. I've no idea whether that's true and once again, it sounds like a diplomatic injury. Partizan are quite a plucky side defensively, but haven't scored many goals this season. I guess it remains to be seen whether Fab will be that tested.

Alex Song must stop pushing up, that's two matches now that we've been battered in the middle thanks to him leaving himself in the middle of nowhere. Wilshere didn't play that much on Sat, so wouldn't mind seeing him start.

I've always said that 9 points is enough to qualify from the group stages, getting a victory tomorrow would ensure we have 2/3 of that, with 2 home games left to play. It'd also mean the potential is there for resting players.

Edit - much respect for doing a lot of these threads Linoge, that took bloody ages! :/

Arsenal's biggest problem isn't their goalkeeper, it's the defensive ethic of the men in front of him, as said, Song is infuriating, you're a defender, DON'T LEAVE YOUR HALF, the attack do NOT need you.

Unfortunately every time I see him in an interview he's talking about how he wants to add goals to his game. Outrageous. Why the hell hasn't Wenger stopped that?

Tottenham can bang on about how great their squad is to the press but the fact is it's nowhere near good enough to compete in the CL and Prem simultaneously

Plus Gallas is out for 3 weeks as well..so much for that freebie eh Spuds:p

It's a lose lose situation. We're going to be spanked this weekend irrespective of the team we put out, I say we focus our efforts on this game to go further up the ladder for qualification.

Not with 6 CBs injured, it's not. :(

I think the Spurs squad is big enough. The problem has been in the way that the injuries have been distributed around the squad. Too many in the same position (CB) and too many to crucial players (Gomes, Defoe).

Any club without any recognised fit CB and without the first choice GK and striker would struggle. Just look at how Man Utd coped when they had a similar CB crisis last year.

Rooney is out for us, might be a good thing as Berbatov doesn't deserve to be dropped and playing 4-4-2 was leaving us wide open at Bolton

GK: VDS

RB: O'Shea
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

RM: Nani
CM: Fletcher
CM: Scholes
CM: Anderson
LM: Park

CF: Berbatov

Go in like that and grab a 0-0 will do me fine :)

You can't choose your injuries, with that many top level games it happens, and you have a few CB's who are injury prone anyway. In the same vein as Spurs having 6 CB's out, Arsenal have their 3 best players out, already (RvP, Fabregas, Vermaelen). For some reason injuries are always more awkward than they could be. Anyway, it's just an opinion that Spurs can't compete in the league as well as last season, it'd be good to see them cope but I can't see them in 4th or 5th again this season, unless they're dumped out of the CL early

Ah ****ing great...

What's wrong with Szczesny, or is it a case of he just isn't error prone enough? We should win comfortably (like we should have against WBA) but what's the point giving Fabianski another chance? Wenger has said you don't get 10 chances and Fabianski has had at least 8 or 9. It's an absolute joke if you leave Szczesny wondering what he has to do to even be considered for a start in a game, while he watches Fabianski come in every time Almunia is rested or 'injured'. This time I do actually think Almunia is injured, maybe that would explain his calamitous keeping against West Brom. He played solidly all season up to that game and after the penalty save it looked like he fell awkwardly on his elbow. You have to start Szczesny in this game to show him a bit of faith, Arsene has said he considers Szczesny as Arsenal's future number 1 goalkeeper, so start showing him a bit of faith in his abilities and give him a chance.

Pray tell how could 6 players in the same position being injured be more awkward? 7 players? :p

I don't see why not, it's not as if it is our first season in Europe. A lot of our squad have a fair bit of UEFA cup experience with Spurs, it isn't like they've not had to deal with lots of midweek games before.

Whilst I'm certainly not delighted with our start in the league, we are still only 3 points off 4th.
