UEFA Champions League/Europa League 23/24/25 October *** Spoilers ***

The other thing that was nice to hear was Chicharito's interview

Just wanting to stress it was for the team, and glad to be playing again rather than wishing any personal plaudits

(not at all surprising coming from him, but its still nice to hear)

I couldn't be bothered to correct DM's figures as they're never right anyway and if you disagree and provide a source he's still not going to change his numbers.

Scott Brown was terrible, that's a poor call playing him if he wasn't fit, he looked 'ok' first half but was terrible in the second half, very slow to react and track back. His inability to put the team first could have been much more costly and forced Celtic under more pressure.

The manager shouldn't have picked him if he wasn't fit and the player should have known better, they should understand that it makes a very difficult task almost impossible, playing with players who aren't fit.

Maybe should've just brought him on as a sub if the game was close with 20-30 to go as a motivator, seems like the sort of captain to get his team pumped. (Basing this completely off his celebration at Diouf, so a massive guess :p)

Gutted with the Celtic score, I cant really fault the players but I did find myself screaming at Hooper. He seems to dislike chasing after the ball and expects it played perfectly to him. If he had chased the damn thing we could have had a better chance.

Mind you, the result was inevitable. It's just for a good 20 mins I honestly thought we where going to beat them :D

Pique's a wonderful centre back and his 'form' has only dropped due to him getting a bit fat and lazy at points last season, which was probably related to the woman he's living with ;)

Puyol should have been 'replaced' you're right, but it's difficult to go out and buy a replacement for someone of that ability without breaking the bank. Puyol will be replaced when the right player is available for the right money.

Cesc's from has been very poor, I watch a lot of Barcelona and his form isn't at the level people have come to expect from him. He was good in Barcelona's previous game, but it's been average by Cesc's standards.

Cesc's form hasn't been even slightly poor, lets see, Iniesta missing and Barca's best ever start to the season while Cesc has been the second best player only to Messi... sure, he's been in very poor form.... lol.

He's scoring less than he did a year ago at the same time because a year ago Messi was mostly playing wide right and Cesc was a makeshift striker(and exceptionally good at it). Since Messi has mostly moved centrally and Cesc is usually behind him, his role has changed yet people still expect him to score the same amount. Most assists, 3rd highest scorer and yes he wasn't scoring as many as you'd expect for Cesc, he was still brilliant just not hitting the net much.

In total this season Cesc has made 16 starts(club and country), he has 6 goals and 10 assists... poor form, only for people who listen to pundits.

Footie 365 tried to write an article on his poor form and not being able to get starts for Barca, this was 4 games into the season of which he started the 2 league games, and didn't start either cup game, he has since started pretty much every game except today, he played more than Iniesta last season when Iniesta wasn't injured and Cesc was carrying a hamstring problem all season again.

Pique a "wonderful" defender, at no stage of his career has he been even a good defender. he looks woeful when Puyol isn't there, and woeful when Puyol is there, but his mistakes result in less goals with a proper player there. He's been a mistake prone twit since his first day at Barca.

Good to see at least one of my results came in, Chelsea losing to Shaktar...couldnt have happened to a 'nicer, classier' team like Chelsea:p.

Saying that Arsenal have had problems with Shaktar in the past so i wasnt all that surprised to see Chelsea get beat.

Was more surprised at Barca only beating Celtic 2-1 but still a win for them which keeps them top of their group.

Shaktar are absolutely flying at the minute, it wasn't a fluke result against Chelsea :)

Celtic defended like beavers in the first half, a good performance and only let in one (amazing) goal, second half they looked shattered (fitness problems + playing against Barcelona) and if anything, a wonderful perfromance from the Celtic keeper and poor finishing from Barcelona kept it at 1-1 for so long.

Fair play to Shaktar, they were by far the better side throughout, I didn't realise they were such a strong team.
The only thing that kept the game alive was that Cech was so good.
Torres was a bungling idiot again for the most part & Luiz just seemed asleep, shame for him as he's been doing well recently.
The problem with this new Chelsea side & style is that there's no alternative if it doesn't work, like last night. The sooner we get Marin fit to give us an alternative the better.
It's going to be tough getting out of the group now, we need to beat Shaktar at home & get a result at Juventus, good times.

It's certainly not the team we saw last year. On current form they could beat anyone in the CL. The return leg on 7/11 promises to be a real cracker and is one we will have to win.

It's almost like you have it in for Pique and you worship the ground Cesc walks.

Actually its almost like Cesc has been pretty much the highest assisting midfielder with an eye for goal in Europe for what, 6-7 years, who went to Barca with half of this forum saying he wouldn't even get starts, and made Iniesta look poor by comparison.

Cesc is one of the best players in the world, if he'd stayed at Barca people would be worshipping the ground he walks on almost as much as Messi and no one would even hint at Iniesta being better than him. Can anyone else name a guy who got the assist for the winning goal in 3 international competitions in a row, who was fantastic in each tournament despite not even being heavily used?

It's also actually rather like Pique can't defend to save his life. Anyone who watched Barca and watched the quite simply amateur mistakes he makes all season long wouldn't even hint at him being a great defender. The number of times he misreads a long ball, misses a header/clearance and lets a striker have a chance, or gets confused and takes the ball off his goal keeper. He's just pretty crap, simple as that.

NO, you are just WRONG, lol...how in ANY way is Pique world class... lol

He's so so poor, defensively he's just rubbish and he's only been made to look good for so many seasons because of the others around him, he is DEFINITELY NOT world class.... And also lol, what a joke that Cesc's form has been very poor, he is always the best every move he is involved in Barca score from he is the best footballer ever, you are WRONG... JUST WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG YOUR OPINION IS WRONG.....

lol.

See, I told you this would happen...

Pique is rubbish, Cesc is the best and you are WRONG Tummy.

I cant stress this is enough it physically gives me a pain in my stomach to go against you when you're arguing with Tummy but Fabregas is not better than Iniesta, he's not even on a par with him let alone actually being better. Cesc v Iniesta is an argument where cant rely on stats or so called effectiveness to prove who's the best you just need to use your eyes

Celtic played well last night. A second goal was always coming but was hoping they would hold out.

Brown has a degenerative hip condition, he only plays in Celtics bigger games, doesnt train and takes injections before matches. Think the first 45mins was enough, should have brough Kayal on then.

Ambrose was excellent last night, finally seems we have a decent centre half.
Wanyama was equally excellent.

Overall glad Celtic avoided a doing that so many predicted or wanted, so they done themselves proud.
