Silva and Fernando do nothing, Silva puts in zero effort at all to close down leaving other players to close down and leave space and Fernando there jogged... if you could call it jogging rather than exaggerated walking, back from out wide to the middle and they played right through the space he wasn't but should have been in. Fernando has been this disturbingly slow and lazy in every game I've seen for months, he showed a bit of energy and effort when he joined but has been woeful lately, truly woeful.

City need to get closer and put pressure on Barca on the ball then break on them fast, but with a slow pace maker who is also lazy as hell and a defensive midfielder who basically doesn't defend nor put in any effort into the game you can't close down hard and fast as those two key players not helping means it doesn't work. Closing well takes all 10 outfield players working together, two don't bother and you just make it even easier for the opposition.

Fernandinho puts in WAY more effort than Fernando, and Lampard would frankly close down players even over 90 mins at his age way more than Fernando... no idea how he gets games frankly.
