There we go, Barca setting up a likely semi final with Chelsea. Milan were good value tonight and the second penalty spoiled the game a bit, was shaping up to be a good one.
Edit: I'm with DM on the 2nd penalty, Busquets clearly has hold of Nesta too and I have no idea what Puyol is trying to do other than bring down his own player to draw the referee's attention.
Thing is, if that really is what they were doing they have practiced a really quite serious way to cheat, like, practicing winning penaltys and getting people red carded, with special set piece moves..... if that is what they've done, and it really looks like it, then i'm pretty irate about it. Like I said, I won't ever condone cheating, ever, but I can understand the motivation for Wigan players, I can't understand it from Barca.
Yeah you could make the argument that Wigan have no pressure to win titles and Barca are expected to win something this year, that is a reason..... but sane people will realise they won't win the champs league every year, no other manager in the world has been fired for failing to win it back to back, nor player. I still don't care, winning everything most of the time isn't an excuse for cheating to try and win everything all the time, get over it.
I think one of the main things with shirt pulling, and I will let the ref off slightly, is that most ref's don't give it UNLESS it causes a player to go down obviously. I mean there is just so much shirt pulling its a joke, a complete and utter joke, but the vast majority is argy bargy and nothing really happens. Now pull shirts AND the player goes down with the defender all over them, they still aren't given that often, but way more often than two guys pulling shirts and no one goes down. So its like Busquet's is basically risking nothing by pulling a shirt and calling the ref, at that stage even if the ref see's Busquet's pulling his shirt... its like every other corner for 5 years. As soon as Puyol(on the ref's blindside) shoves both to the ground it suddenly becomes Busquets running at the ball and Nesta falling all over Busquets, shirt pulling and a penalty.
Like I said, it looked rehearsed as the only way those will be given is, Busquets run, blocks Puyol's action from the ref, and ends up with Nesta on top of him on the floor. In terms of it actually being a penalty, from the camera's side, Puyol is the reason for both players to go down, if Nesta wasn't holding his shirt Busquet's was shoved over by Puyol, its never a penalty IF the ref see's the whole story.
