UEFA Champions League/Europa League 3/4/5 May *** Spoilers ***

Wouldn't surprise me to see that but I worry it's too negative. I suppose on the flipside it gives us Chich to come on at 60 minutes against a tiring defence.

We can always switch it to 4-4-2 if we need to chase the game.

A 3 man CM is needed against Xavi and Iniesta.

Now, now lets not come across as bitter Barry.

3 CL finals in 4 years I would say classes as the second best team in Europe.

That would make you the best side surely :p

And as for your post regarding your side for the final; I wouldn't bet against Rooney starting on the left with Hernandez up front on his own. If Park's likely to play central, I can't see Taggart trusting Nani on the left with Alves bombing forward.

 if that was the case then he wouldn't be dropped then would he

Nani was on course to break the premiership all time assist record this season, as well as having 9 goals to his name.

He has for a huge part of the season carried this united side and been pretty much the single creative force in the side.

Nani wasnt out of form when Valencia was fit to play, he just got shunted over/dropped to bring Valencia back in.

I can understand why Nani is played out wide left, awful as he is at doing it, its all we have, but overall it weakens the side because he is better than Valencia.

Then I would go for Giggs on the left to combat Alves, Rooney doesn't have the discipline to track Alves all game.

Being played on the wrong side of the pitch is no excuse for hogging the ball, running down blind alleys and giving the ball away needlessly. He's just out of form.

The problem is Valencia rarely loses the ball, where as Nani constantly loses it, that and the fact the Nani can cross with his left and he is the only one that can play there for any length of time.

I can't see him going 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 against Barcelona.

More likely to see Rooney up front on his own, 3 man midfield and 2 wingers.

He doesnt have any choice but to go at them, no combination of any 3 of our midfielders is competitive against Barcelona, but you can get at their defence.

Then I would go for Giggs on the left to combat Alves, Rooney doesn't have the discipline to track Alves all game.

Forgot about Giggs. In that case, he'll play in the middle with Carrick and Fletcher with Park on the left and Rooney through the middle.

Which surely wouldn't have happened if Nani was significantly better than Valencia

I know you've got a dislike for Valencia but your points about Nani and his goals and assists is an almost mirror image of Valencia last season where he was laying on assists for Rooney left right and centre and even chipping in with the odd goal here and there

The squad is for the better now Valencia is back

That's all good and well but if you haven;t got the ball you need someone to get it back.

Park was utter **** on the left the other week, depending on how he approaches the game you can pretty much decide how he will play it by who he picks on the left.

Rooney doesnt seem to agree with you

Who scored the first goal tonight - and who had a number of chances and fluffed nearly every one.......hmmmm

Nani has played well at times this season - no question about it, but he isnt as good as you are trying to make out either

LOL one over the top Valencia hater arguing with an over the top Nani hater :p

Park's bound to be picked, and probably ordered to keep tabs on Messi ..
He's one of unites few wide men with both the legs and discipline to carry out the task.

There's not really any other way to deal with him..
CB steps up and you'r leaving too much space for Pedro/Villa.
DM marking and he gets dragged all over the place, allowing Xavi/Iniesta a field day in midfield.

Best way is to sacrifice a wide man, imo

I'd personally (well if I wanted Utd to win) go with Nani on the left and rather than concern myself with him tracking Alves, look to take advantage of the space Alves will allow you.

I don't think Fergie will think that way. He'll look to keep it as tight at the back as possible and pinch a goal on the break with Rooney, Valencia + 1.

Do you really think Nani played well tonight (against a moderate team)?

I dont hate Nani at all - but I can also see the dozens of chances he gets (even on the right) for every assist /goal he makes
