UEFA Champions League/Europa League 3/4/5 May *** Spoilers ***

Do you really think Nani played well tonight (against a moderate team)?

I dont hate Nani at all - but I can also see the dozens of chances he gets (even on the right) for every assist /goal he makes

No Nani didn't have a great game and hasn't had a great couple of weeks but he has been arguably our best attacking player this season and doesn't deserve half the stick you give him

Likewise though Valencia certainly doesn't deserve half the stick atpbx gives him

Well imho Nani is a replacement for Ronny in the amount of chances given to him in any single game if nothing else

Given his performance tonight he certainly shouldnt play on Sunday (as a starter), and doesnt deserve to start the final either

Being played on the wrong side of the pitch is no excuse for hogging the ball, running down blind alleys and giving the ball away needlessly. He's just out of form.

It would be interesting to see the pass completion rates and cross success rates for both players.

I cant find anything for Valencia yet.

As I've said, I can understand why Nani has to play out left, its just a waste.

But isn't the positive thing him getting in the positions? Sure it can be frustrating when he fluffs them but expecting a plus 90% conversion rate is expecting him to be Messi tbh, most wingers are hit and miss, it's just a positive for us that Nani is more hit than miss than most others out there imo

Which surely wouldn't have happened if Nani was significantly better than Valencia

I know you've got a dislike for Valencia but your points about Nani and his goals and assists is an almost mirror image of Valencia last season where he was laying on assists for Rooney left right and centre and even chipping in with the odd goal here and there

The squad is for the better now Valencia is back

Less assists and goals than Nani who was playing out of position.

Considerably less assists and goals than Nani has managed this season as well on the right.

Rooney doesnt seem to agree with you

Who scored the first goal tonight - and who had a number of chances and fluffed nearly every one.......hmmmm

Nani has played well at times this season - no question about it, but he isnt as good as you are trying to make out either

He set up more goals last season than Valencia did last season.

He is the runaway leading assist maker in the premiership this year with 18.

He has 9 league goals.

Valenica managed 9 last year.
Nani managed 10, from the left, out of position.

So yes, he is a lot more productive than Valencia.
If United do go on to win anything this year, a huge part of it will be down to him.

did you miss that AV had 6 months off with a broken leg!!!

with one and a fraction seasons in the team compared to 4......or 5

So you compare a 1st season to a 5th hmmm yeah okkkkkkkk

As I said just now - Rooney doesnt agree, and personally I think WR should know more about this stuff than a non-professional lol

Is there any point in getting in those positions if the chance is then wasted when a better placed player could do more? Im wondering whether you chose 90% out of thin air or its based on a figure I havent seen (and would be amazed if any article had factual proof that figure was accurate, when Nani is on form he probably gets 90% of chances......of which probably 30% are worthwhile or accurate/successful - he SEEMS to waste that many

Considerably less? Valencia last season 7 goals and 13 assists says the first site I came across

Nani this season has 3 goals more and 7 more assists, I wouldn't call that considerable difference tbh

Oh and just to check remember the game in Milan last season? Nani on the right did nothing all game, minutes after Valencia replaced him he put one on Rooneys head

Like I said the squad is for the better that both are fit

Frank, read it again, I'm comparing different seasons.

Antonio Valencia got 9 league assists last year.
Thats off the official Premier league site.

18 is 100% more than 9, thats "considerably" more.
I'm not even counting Cup games for Nani this season!

So why not reply to the other points.......sorry I forgot there is no reasonable reply, because Nani isnt that much better lol (and the rest of your stats are heavily biased towards the player with multiple seasons of experience in the same team, and even then the club's current leading scorer (of all) still prefers your least favoured player

FYI crosses are automatically going to be more successful this season because of Chicharito stretching teams more frequently (with the more relaxed Berba leading the attack opposing players are much more compressed - in defence - and crosses are bound to be less effective, so yet another reason why its unfair to compare two completely seperate seasons

Why are you not comparing assists in all comps? Because it swings your argument your way?

I've just told you the stats, 20 assists in all comps this season for Nani, 13 in all comps last season for Valencia - so again not what you would call a considerable difference

Look either way, we are top of the league and in a strong position to get number 19, in our third final in 4 years in the CL and have two of the best wingers in the country fighting for one position, lets just be happy with our lot eh :)

I would like united to win the final, I hate barca. Yet you know with the midfield they have they will get passed off the pitch.

With the players united currently have it's some achievement to even get to the final. I hope they do it and do it by having a few barca players sent off.

Gibson, O'Shea and Owen might demand a bigger wage if Utd win the CL though danny. We all know money's tight enough as it is for your lot :p

I think Owen would be a better investment for your lot alongside Carroll, for when Suarez moves on to a bigger club :p

The more he scores the quicker he will be off ;)

He looks quality I give him 12 more months.

You didn't see Comolli talking to Pep at tonights game? We're already agreeing a deal for Messi ready for the day Suarez loses his mind :p
