UEFA Champions League/Europa League 30/1/2 April/May *** Spoilers ***

Webb missed an opportunity to make the game about himself with that penalty. Surprising.

Real looked so average, not entertaining to watch at all. Ronaldo was off his game so the chances of them winning were slim. Higuain and Benzema are such poor strikers.

The better side over the two legs went through, Dortmund wouldn't have played so defensively tonight if not for their first leg lead.

And even so, Dortmund still should have scored 3 or 4 tonight. It's not as if they parked the bus and did nothing.

@maun

its over the 2 legs and they did most of the job at home how can you say that? best team so far in this CL

worst 5mins ever

But the final isn't over 2 legs, and they'll be up against the 2 sides that were both favourites to win it.

Defensively they were very good, but they didnt seem to want to create as much as the first leg IMO, I know they've been great in the competition and I really want them too win, but if they play like this game in the final I think they'll struggle.

Simply what I was getting at

lol they played like tonight because they didnt need to score! They wont setup like that in the final
what did you want them to do play attacking football when really they didnt have to

Is it just me thinking how biased Itv are in this even though there is no English involvement?

The way they were talking through most of that you'd think there was only one team involved (Madrid), and that a comeback was inevitable. I guess they probably don't know anything about Dortmund so want the big names to win.

Happy Dortmund are through though, good team/manager hopefully it will be a good final.

Dortmund won't be approaching the final with a 3 goal cushion mentality and smaller teams often capitulate in the last 10mins when they're on the brink of something big, that is something which they will need to work on should they be leading the final as they lacked composure at the end there.

Defensively they weren't very good, they gave Real, a very poor team tonight, chance after chance after chance.

HIguain and Benzema just aren't top strikers, or even close. Di Maria was mostly poor, Ozil was his usual self in a big game, giving it away, misplacing passes, useless defensively, weak on the ball, lazy. Modric was their best midfielder but ultimately didn't do enough. Kaka when he came on did nothing, Ramos was his usual overly aggressive, nasty piece of work self. Smashing people in the face, shoving them over, Coentrao the same with a tackle that were it most players I might call an accident, but he has a habit of doing stuff like that.

Dortmund were very very strange, the last 10 minutes , well after they conceded the first, they had the ball in Real's half, and they would make insanely lazy passes, underhit, overhit, giving the ball away for no need. In the first half they had people break in behind, beat the offside trap but almost every time the pass was massively overhit miles beyond where it needed to be and straight to the keeper.

Bizarre performance, they were okay at points defensively, diabolic defensively in the first 15 and the last 20, and upfront, they just seemed disinterested in making the effort. Real, too many passengers, their biggest problem with the league win, and a majority of their buys since they got Ronaldo is the team has improved dramatically, but its almost entirely down to Ronaldo, but Ozil, Di Maria, Khedira, and Benzema/Higuain get far far too much credit for Ronaldo carrying the team, and as such those players haven't been moved on or replaced when they really should be.

Ozil I would keep as a rotation player, he'll get goals and run games against the less good side so they can rest a key player, but he is AWFUL in 9 out of 10 games against big teams, the games that matter.

The only thing I'm surprised by was how everyone thought 3-0 was a complete and utter impossibility. But it is as with Arsenal against Bayern and Milan the year before, teams give up and barely try in the second game, yet basically every single time, despite conceding the "better" team goes through.

I asked the question for a few seasons prior to this just how good are this Madrid side as outside of their own league they'd never really been tested in Europe the way Barca had, this season though I've got my answer and it's that they're not that good at all. Dont get me wrong they're obviously a good side one of the best in Europe in fact but compared with Barca at their best Real dont come close, they're very very beatable.

Mourinho's the biggest tart in football.

edit: and that was a great end to the interview - just cut JM off in the middle of his nonsense.

Is it something that real do? I mean benzema, higuain, ozil, dimaria etc, all we're the talk of football at various points as being the next big think etc.

But none of them seem to have ever gone on to the next level once they went to Madrid.
