UEFA Champions League/Europa League 5/6/7 April *** Spoilers ***

All the worst parts of spurs came put tonight. Crouch is a plan b and should never be plan a. Gomes made a shocker
Jenas was... Well Jenas
Defoe was a non event. VDV was slow and rubbish.

So much rebuilding to do. Very sad.
To say that this was the first real opposition is nonsense. Ac and inter are top of serie a which is a strong league. To beat them both is not easy.

Doesn't look good for Spurs. All but out of the Champions League and struggling in the Premiership. Will they be able to keep Modric, VDV and Bale next season?

I'd like to think that we'll finally look to play our full strength side in the league a bit more often now that one eye isn't constantly on Europe.

I'd also like to think that they will realise how this season will have only helped bolster the club financially for the coming years.

I think the return leg at WHL will be very interesting, time for a comeback to beat all comebacks.

He may have a point. I mean, they have Peter Crouch as a regular start in forward. Seriously.

It's up to him to get the best out of him, besides he's had plenty of good options up front since he's been at spurs. He should make more of what he has.

You could go through any of the top 6 english clubs and stake a claim for saying they need more strength in depth.

It's not like madrid have had great forward options.

Inter are an absolute joke. One of Serie A's finest conceding 5 against a mid-table German side. Definitely the 4th best league in Europe now.

Madrid have hammered Spurs, and the funny thing is I've seen them play much better than this in the league. It was only a matter of time until they got found out by a better team; you can't keep conceding goals like they've done through the comp and expect to win by coming back into the game and no team ever wins the competition by being gung-ho. Back to the Europa League they go.

I dunno, AC are having a good season but aren't great, and you'd expect English top 4 sides to beat them every time, all you need to know about Inter this season is that they got beat 5 - 2 at home tonight by Shalke, who are mid table in Germany and had a lot of players out tonight too.

Spurs quite often do better than I expect, but they don't have the world class players they need to do anything more than scrape in at 4th.

As you say, if you're playing Crouch on a regular basis then there is something wrong. By the way, Harry - croach + VDH does NOT work

The Serie A is far from crap, but at the same time it is nowhere near 'strong' comparative to Western Europe.

Beating them isn't easy, but as I said before Madrid are the first opposition Spurs have had that I would think Manjoo or Chelski would struggle to beat.

Nice to see Gazza looking well and talking sense for a change before the game.

Nice touch by Mourinho as well, he gave him tickets to the match and his personal Exec box to watch it in.

The envelope with the tickets was addressed to 'The Special One'

:)

Man city couldn't beat Kiev (who i rate highly but are not europea best) arsenal lost to braga. Liverpool screwed up against some unknowns. There are no easy games in Europe as the cliche pronounces.

IF a top 4 team played to it's best they would probably beat ac or inter playing at their medium pace. It is a nonsense to suggest that ac Milan at their best or inter at their best could not beat a top 4 team with ease though. These are top teams and to beat them the level of performance that is required is very high and far from a canter for the top English teams.

The Italian teams haven't been that strong this season even domestically (Napoli could still yet win Serie A), I was surprised Inter got past Bayern last round tbh.

It's been a good Champions League run for Spurs but they seemed to panic in a lot of the matches and had to chase games, same tonight but the opposition was too good and they were punished.
