UEFA Champions League/Europa League 5/6/7 April *** Spoilers ***

berbatov looks like a fair price for £30m bare in mind that this was 3 years ago this august so had just entered his prime and the fact andy carroll went for £5m more!
Not really, it was apparant at the time Berbatov was good but not £30 million good.

The weakness of your argument is shown by the fact you've referenced Andy Carroll. :p

Come off it Loki.

It was ALL Chelsea second half, they were all over United for large parts of the second half, United edged it in the first. Great goal and unlike Chelsea looked lethal at times going forward (broke with pace a few times ect ect) :)

for the most part Chelsea were not particularly dangerous though - apart from 2 or 3 instances

Utd had just as many dangerous breaks in the same period

UTD paid what we needed for it to be viable to let him go and what they thought he was worth to them.

Transfer fee comparisons are pointless, as are judging a player by their fee. Judge the business, not the player.

that doesn't even make sense. Carroll has a lot to prove

exactly. berbatov had proven how good he was in the prem and europa, this is carroll's first season in the prem. newcastle had carroll down as a £1m player this time last season on their valuation accounts. not saying he wont prove his worth though.

David Villa = Andy Carroll?

Andy Carroll > Ronaldinho in his prime?

Etc...

Well no one has any idea how much Ronaldinho in his prime would cost these days, and even Villa was sold in a cheaper league for transfers in general

I do take your point though, imo before his transfer Berba was worth £20-£25m and Levy eaaily got £5m excess

I wish Michael Carrick could play every game like he did tonight, that's his best game in a long time.

Totally agree, I am usually the first one to want to shoot him from the stands but tonight he was very, very good.

I like this character that is coming out of the team over the last few weeks, everyone trying for each other 100%, not something you often see with Man Utd.

LoL loved it, stonewall penalty which they probably would have got if Torres and Drogba had stopped diving all over the place.

Karma's a bitch when it comes back to haunt you like that. I bet Chris Smalling had a rye smile on his face :D

Which I what I and José Mourinho did in the first place.

You need to think these replies through Skippi. :D

And how exactly is getting as much as you can for a key player bad business? :p

Are sides supposed to roll over and let the bidding side name a price? If there's a team stupid enough to pay it, then bleed 'em dry.

Maureen can moan all he wants. He's no newcomer to splashing out.

Who paid the record transfer fee?

Who said it was bad business?

José said Spurs ask for a lot; nothing more and nothing less.

One: My original comment was in regards to Berbatov's 'worth'.

Two: Mourinho has sod all say in what we should ask for a player.

Berbatov's goals this season should have gone a fair way in making UTD feel better about the fee.
