UEFA Champions League/Europa League 5/6/7/March *** Spoilers ***

Good for the tournament yes, but I disagree that it is a shock. RM have been average all season.

I meant to be shocked by Ajax who even are not leading the Dutch Eredivisie. Have you got any indications that Ajax would pull that kind of performance out of the bag?

Not entirely, but RM have had the potential to implode all season so put any half-decent team in front of them in a knock out competition, even away from home, and they'd have a great chance. It doesn't take long for the whole stadium to turn against them.

I mean, for me the pretty badly outplayed Real in terms of quality of football in the other leg and were extremely unlucky to go behind. Ramos was huge in the first leg as per usual and is a huge huge leader for the team. In fact of everyone on that team this year Ramos is one of the stand out performers of someone whose level hasn't dropped much and is putting in block after block after block and keeping that team afloat. So in terms of shock, maybe, but a smaller one.

The team needs a massive overhaul, all the things that covered over the weaknesses have gone and now the offence is basically shattered without Ronaldo, the midfield's lack of goals, creativity and often defensive solidity isn't helped by less offensive pressure, less space and time for them to work in and the defence is ageing and randomly and for no reason I can comprehend decided a keeper who was great in 3 CL runs in a row wasn't good enough and spent a buttload on a worse keeper while also making a load on Ronaldo and not replacing him. Ramos was the main glue sticking the defence together now and he was missing. Marcelo started playing pretty badly defensively early last season. SEems like his legs have gone, not so much pace but he can't bomb up and down the wing all game, he now spends every game bombing forwards and walking back and is dire defensively due to it.

Real have played so poorly this year and again based on how poorly they played in the first leg and how unlucky Ajax were, this result wasn't particularly unexpected. The margin, sure, but being able to come to Real and win, especially without Ramos and after their recent thrashings at home? The team is basically broken.

They need two fullbacks, they need two central mids, they need at least one if not two wingers and they need 1 if not 2 strikers now. Vini is too young to start every game and no where near good enough Bale seems to have actually been so effective because Ronaldo took all the pressure off him, he could come in late season fairly fresh, frequently rested and have a few fantastic performances with little to no pressure. Now when expected to step up for Ronaldo him and Benzema have folded. Combined with other players getting older, losing legs, bans, injuries and horrendous buying over the past 2-3 seasons the team needs work everywhere.

Great result for Ajax yesterday, pretty much exploited where Real Madrid truly are with their current squad, very good result for Spurs too who seemed in control of the whole tie from the start.

I'm not hopeful of us getting a result tonight vs PSG, people are saying anything is possible etc but United's squad is heavily weakened with injuries and suspensions and PSG are not really at the same level of Real Madrid at the moment, they are miles ahead.

Think it will be a comfortable win for PSG tonight.
