UEFA Champions League/Europa League 8/9/10 March *** Spoilers ***

Matic has been completely awful this year and no, he's not currently better than Fabregas defensively. But they went into this game a goal down, they started the game losing. More protection would have only made breaking down PSG who were entirely willing to sit back significantly harder.

As for Matic would have gotten back into the swing for a CL tie no problem, based on what, wishful thinking? There are many players who have improved dramatically since Mourinho was fired, Matic is pretty much the only one who hasn't at all. Since Mourinho left Fabregas and Costa have been in brilliant form and most of the rest of the team is playing much much better.

Chelsea did have to try and break PSG down, it's what they've struggled with more than anything this season and Matic/Mikel midfield partnership would have both not been more controlled because Matic is playing like crap and would have made it harder to find a goal.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. Basically 0-0 at 65 mins would have been perfect for Chelsea, use subs to change the dynamic and get that goal. I think that would have been a far better way instead of going all out from the start and allowing open space in behind, just my opinion of course.

Do you think Fabregas is better than Matic defensively when they are both playing to their full potential?

Why's it so quiet in here tonight? English team in the QFs. Shame about the (likely) result but at least there's some decent* Europa action coming up :D:o

*Utd probably breaking another negative record :(

Plastic Chelski fans only show up when they are winning.

With United playing tonight, bet it will be a little busier ;)

Feel bad for saying this, slightly excited at the prospect of Spurs V Dortmund but at least it's on before the United game :)

I reckon score draw for Spurs and the same for United or a smash and grab 1-0 (either way).

Shame for Chelsea, although I'm an Arsenal fan I do like to see English teams doing well in Europe.

You do know that a few of us are STHs and actually go to all the games right?
I imagine that it'll be just as quiet tonight seeing as it's mainly Liverpool and Man.U. fans in here and they'll all be at the game...

oh dear i hope our midfield have lubed up

BVB: Weidenfeller, Durm, Piszczek, Bender, Hummels, Schmelzer, Weigl, Castro, Mkhitaryan, Reus, Aubameyang

Herrera dropped Fellaini starting....well it's been about 3 mins since LvG ****** up, due another one.

Also lol remember how I optimistically said LvG took Herrera off last week to rest him for this game? Turns out he's just a complete idiot.

To be fair, i'd only have swapped Fellaini out there for Herrera/Carrick/Schwein, the rest is a half decent lineup.

No doubt the tactics will condemn us to a good thrashing mind.

I guess I should've wrapped my post in the banter tag.

a few sites suggesting Herrera is injured / struggling so that might be why

(don't know if its true mind)

Decent team apart from Fellaini , lets just see how Mata can light up the pitch shall we............
