UEFA Champions League/Europa League Draw 25/26 August

:D Milner, Barry and Lescott vs Messi, Xavi and Iniesta... hmm
Why have you listed 3 of our most average players vs Barcelona's best 3

Any of Aguero, Yaya, Silva, Tevez, Nasri and Dzeko vs Messi, Xavi and Iniesta is a fairer comparison?

Barca still come out on top but it is closer than Barry, Milner and Lescott.

I hope Man City get Barcelona, teach them a lesson. Last year Barca had such an easy group and so did we... kinda boring group stages last year to be honest... apart from Inter and Spurs.

Kinda wanted to Barca in our group to be honest. More games against them the better we can get.

Someone's going to get a fiesty draw with Dortmund and Napoli in pot 4 (especially if that group avoids Basel too)!

Fairer, yes. A matchup? No. Barcelona and Real Madrid would get at least 4pts off City in the group stage :D

Because Mancini loves Barry Lescott and Milner, i bet they'd start.

and Da Silva, Aguero, Tevez Nasri Dzeko won't see much of the ball.

Where on earth are you getting the idea that you'll out possess Barca enough to give your attacking players enough time to make an impact.

Mancini would set up defensively, the midfield would be 5, Yaya, Barry, De Jong, Milner and Da Silva. Maybe Nasri for Milner, but that isn't very defensive.

So then you have your defense of Kolarov, Richards, Lescott and Kompany.

You're team got out possesed by a bunch of kids in the community shield, I Highly doubt you've some how become the best possession team on the planet and Lescott is the best central defender nevermind Kompany...

Man City fans, so deluded

I never said he didnt?
Who is Da Silva? and why wouldn't they?

Where did i say that we would? i said that players like Nasri etc are more of a match to Xavi etc than Barry?

Wow, a pre season friendly game and suddenly that is the benchmark for how good your team would play against Barcelona?

Once again i never said that we are, he isnt and Kompany isnt a good CB?

shipinabottle, cant read.

EDIT: We are not the best possession team in the world but....
92% - Manchester City have played a higher proportion of short passes than any other PL side this season. Slick.
:p

Seriously hope you aren't trying to state that Lescott is better than Kompany.

Because you're only as good as your weakest components, and Barry, Milner and Lescott are all very much a core of your team sadly. Thats my point.

you haven't spent 1 game against top class european opponents yet you think from playing against and giving a thrashing to Swansea and Bolton you can suddenly take on Barca... Unbelievable. I think it's going to be an eye opener if you face Real or Barca.

possession stat

We're only 2 games into the season, little early to pulling out the stats aint it?

I said in the other thread though City do have a midfield probably best equipped to deal with Barca; De Jong buzzing around Xavi, Yaya over powering Iniesta and then the pair of them just giving the ball to Silva/Nasri to do something offensively and obviously Aguero knows what they're all about from his time at Atletico.

That said Messi really would tear Lescott & Clichy/Kolarov a new butt hole :p

Would be a fascinating two games if it happens....

Right ok then.
Sadly?
They are good players, not world class. But good.

Well we have actually. V Barca a few years ago..we won 1-0 and Inter this summer and we won 3-0. Barca team included Messi, Ibrahimovic etc. Inter team included Eto'o and Sneijder.

When did i ever say that?...

It was just a little joke ;) :p to just emphasize the point we can do possession football :D

Well we are certainly equipped in all areas. Will be interesting to see if they can put it together.

Quite possibly/likely but who knows!

Would be amazing and will be fantastic for many of the fans who not that long ago were sat on a coach to York away in the middle of December!

Will they only way we can find that out is when we play them. Until that happens i think it is quite unfair to be saying they will trounce us 7-0 etc.

I hope its drawn in a way that arsenal and city meet in knockout, and nasri knocks arsenal out

That would cause an explosion

Well, they have, they've played Utd numerous times, they've played Arsenal, and Liverpool, and Chelsea, and they've beaten all or most of them in the past year.

Did you see Real dominate the game against barca, with a woeful defence and not even their whole midfield playing well Barca were beaten in one leg and could and maybe should have conceded a couple more in the 2nd leg.

City have a much better defence than Real in all honest, and offensively aren't too far away.

If City sit back and defend I think Barca would eat them alive, like they would almost anyone, like they did to Utd. If City play the more attacking football they've been trying to play lately and get at Barca in their half, theres every chance they could win. But for the entirely ridiculously bad defending by Real they would likely have won the supercup. Messi and Xavi are great, Messi didn't need to be great to walk through the often insane gap between their defensive players that game.

Barce never seem that invincible in the group stages anyway. Didn't Ruban Kazam or however they're spelt beat them home and away, hell Arsenal even beat them last year, no reason why City can't do the same. Also people can laugh at their defence but it seemed pretty damn solid last year.
