UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [25th - 27th November 2014]

Doesn't make a difference to the table but I'm pretty sure the players will feel like that draw is a defeat which will further hurt morale.

Two weeks time becomes a one off, Anfield shall be up for it I hope, if we don't go through it would be very hard to blame this draw tonight, if the players are that soft **** them off.

Exactly. It seemed oblivious to Tyler and Smith that whether we won or draw it made absolutely no difference. We'd have still needed to beat Basel in the last game.

The most worrying thing was that it seemed to go over our players heads too. After they scored Johnson was bombing forward down the left more than he had all game.

Indeed, was ****ing furious at that, nevermind the **** pass to the guy with closed legs he was never going to megs....

Yes Tyler and Alan Smith, two senile clowns who need to **** off.

Liverpool have had a one goal lead after 85 mins six times in all comps this season.

They've lost that lead six times.

Is this true :D?

Depressing hearing Rodgers sound happy with that performance :(

Sadly its an improvement on what we've done before, I seriously doubt he's going in that dressing room saying 'Well done lads, especially you Steven, great character'

Sorry am I missing something, because you didn't win tonight should Ludo and Basel win Liverpool don't even get in the Europa cup. Had they won tonight, should basel/ludo win then you still end up in the europa cup. being that there is almost zero chance of Liverpool getting close to the final let alone winning it while Europa would likely let you go further and potentially even have a chance of winning it(if they improve pretty significantly still).

Financially one round in the CL vs several in the europa, from the way the league is going winning Europa is Liverpool's best shot at CL for next year as it happens.

Sure chances of Real losing to Ludo, not huge but who knows who they'll play, do they have a Atletico/barca game right before or after it. It makes fairly little difference but I think getting angry at people because they aren't saying there is no difference when there actually IS a difference is pretty silly.

Implying Europa league would go better :D

Also don't act like they deserve credit, they hadn't even thought about it or highlighted to viewers what difference it made or the different scenarios has Basel equalized or anything, they knew **** all and it makes little difference, we've got a better chance in the league.

Better chance in thw Europa league or EPL at quailifying for the CL? Better chance of getting into the CL via the Europa league for me..

The chase for top 4 is already over, we have to win something like 19/20 of our remaining 28 games to get 74 points (on average the 4th place points total), we dont have a prayer.

Thoughts on the Arsenal game? You haven't commented...and they won.

For Ludogorets every Champions League game is like a cup final for them. I was at CSKA vs Ludogorets on Saturday and both teams were pretty awful. You could see Liverpool getting beat by Basel with their current form though.

5 points off is it? Can afford a couple of bad results together, much better chance, chances of winning it are really low

Meh, Ox was completely wasteful, loads of running, but his passes and choices were abysmal one attempted shot aside. Sanchez relatively poor offensively, one great shot and goal but extremely little else going forward. He was actually great defensively but... for Gibbs to have a "good game" our 30million attacking winger and only genuine goal scoring threat spent half the game actually in left back doing a job Gibbs can't do.

It was a decent enough win although it was once again another game with mostly toothless possession. Dortmund were poor all over the pitch, poor touch, woeful passing and 98% of their attacks ended up being a single player making a run and a pretty long distance cross coming in. Zero cutting edge in their play.

It makes me feel weird to echo what Jonnymedonza has said but, I've spent the past 4 years minimum waiting for Wenger to fail badly enough to be fired. One result is irrelevant, at no stage did I think we wouldn't qualify for the next stage of the CL, it doesn't matter. Wenger did nothing new, a game where Dortmund were completely toothless and Campbell gets 2 minutes, which means someone who Wenger uses more played way longer than they needed to... again. Campbell could have come on safely 10 mins into the second half when it was clear Dortmund didn't kick it up a gear, saved Sanchez, protected him a little and given Campbell a chance to improve or be a part of the team.... nope, run Sanchez into the ground, wait for him to get injured and then have to rely on Campbell when he hasn't played in 6 months... the Wenger method.

We beat Sunderland, burnley, villa and Palace... so what, nothing changed, we played poorly in all but one of those games and played the same exact way in the games we drew and lost. We didn't play much differently today, the opposition was the biggest difference. Wenger has shown literally 8 years with absolute refusal to change anything at all for the better, that is the crux if it, I know that Wenger won't change anything. The longer he stays the longer our football is toothless, pointless and have zero shot at the league, a european win or just putting up a genuine fight in most games.

Everyone knows it, we could win 15 games on the bounce, have a lead in the title race, we'd throw it away... but we aren't good enough to go on a 15 game winning streak and everyone knows that as well.

Ok. Gibbs definitely *not appropriate* or something because you cannot have so much hate for him after that performance any other way. The man didn't put a foot wrong in that game and was defensively solid making some essential tackles, interceptions and blocks. Your hatred of Gibbs concerns me.

Firstly, calling a player crap isn't the same as hating someone, this seems to be presumed on the internet... "I like something, someone else doesn't like this thing, thus he must hate it... because he banged his mum or something".

No, he's just a rubbish, rubbish player who has been the most culpable player in every single big game we've lost in the past few years, because he can't play football.

Did you spot how narrow Gibbs was last night when defending, did you spot how Sanchez was often sitting basically where you'd see a left back, did you see how many times Sanchez made tackles, blocks or just pressured a player at left back and how little Sanchez did offensively.

I did actually type it before but do try and follow the logic this time around, Sanchez, a 30million pound attacking winger/striker who is our only goal scoring threat instead spent a huge portion of the game at left back. Now this may come as a surprise for you, but it's easier to be a CB with two cb's than 1, it's an easier job as a striker with two upfront than one, and when you get someone spend WAY WAY WAY longer than normal covering at left back, it makes the left backs job infinitely easier.

When literally the only time Gibbs has put in a not awful performance in the past 3 years is when you're sacrificing a 30mil winger who is your only chance to score.... that both isn't a sign the left back is good, nor anything to suggest the left back had a great performance himself. Sanchez was great defensively last night, Gibbs had his job made massively easier than normal. That is all before you factor in that the Dortmund offense was a disjointed pile of crap, or that the only threat did in fact come down the Dortmund right wing, and their only real chance of the night was a cross from their right.

Even the completely dumbass commentator spotted Sanchez doing a hell of a lot of work at left back, a commentator that also spotted that Sanchez was a hell of a lot less involved offensively.

IF Sturridge can get fit, and then IF he can recapture some of his form from last year, it's entirely possible. Liverpool have been terrible, but there are a number of players who could find form and transform their performances, imo (eg. Sturridge/Sterling if he played like the latter part of last year/Balotelli).

Obviously a number of ifs, and a turnaround's by no means certain, but the pieces are all there (unlike, for example, Tottenham who don't have a striker who's capable of delivering quality performances).

Even getting Sturridge back we will not suddenly go on this magical winning run. When/if he is back he would have missed at least half the season, he isn't going to bang in 20 odd goals in the remaining 19 games. Any Liverpool fan who thinks otherwise is deluded, our issue run far deeper than getting him back and fit.

Until we sort out the CB/DM issue any goals he might score would just be wiped out by an atrocious defense.
