UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [29/30 September - 1 October 2015]

Standard copypasta for United. "Good result, less than stellar performance"

Smalling, Darmian, Mata were particularly impressive. Valencia and Schneiderlin were very poor.

Agreed

Thought BFS played well till he got subbed. Rooney I fear is a spent force (at the highest level at least) When you see Darmian closing down in the last 3 minutes, thats more than what Rooney showed imho.

I assume that after this the media will obviously praise English football. Or will they decide that we were both lucky but Arsenal etc were well beaten.

not a convincing performance, good result tho.

Don't remember De Gea having to save much despite Wolfsburg looking very dangerous at times.

They were dangerous - but Utd should have finished off a couple of the "easy" chances in the 1st half (not dis-similar to the PSV game) and it would have been a completely different 2nd half

Sorry but Schneiderlin and BS especially should be embarrassed about getting booked for what they did - very stupid on both parts

Young MUCH more impressive (even on the wrong side as it were) than Valencia at full back, Depay was virtually invisible - like Rooney, Everyone else was pretty good

Or hadn't loaned/sold all our other options.

I agree with selling RvP (and Falcao was useless to start with), but it was criminal not to buy a cheapish older player at the same time as Martial

I'm not convinced Januzaj was ready for this season - yes he scored the winner against a bad villa side, but that's not saying much really.

We need experience upfront not more youth (happy about Wilson being kept rather than loaned, but he should be coming on once the game is won not to win the game imo)

Is it me or is Paul Scholes one of the most miserable men on the planet?

I know what you mean, but no, I just think he isn't a natural infront of the camera (he was always one of the most "shy" players in that squad, exactly the opposite to Beckham), not really sure why he got that on camera job - he doesn't need the money hahaha

his (local) accent and tone of voice doesn't help of course

A win is a win as others have said we're not playing spectacularly though. I'm happy to be winning but I'm disappointed we're wasteful and there's so many silly mistakes.

It's often deemed a big achievement when players reach 500 pro games....but Ronaldo scoring 500 goals just seems so damn ridiculous.

It's pretty cool as a fan and viewer that we get to watch easily the best two players to of ever played, develop their career and battle one another!
Unreal to of scored that many goals at the absolute top level!

What?

No.

Agree with this point.

Unfortunately with the very fickle nature of the press and the fans nowadays managers get no breathing space. Three weeks ago after th Swansea game, LVG was in crisis, then a few weeks after this he is finally pulling his side together, it's madness.

What?

No.

Easily!!!!

You seriously think anyone has been better than Messi or Ronaldo? Given the change in the game and today's pace and competitiveness?

:p

Just ashame most of those goals and his peak was in La Liga and not EPL, probably have considerably less goals then as well ;)

No.

Maybe a fat ronaldo if he stayed fit could have touched those sorts of stats with the pace in todays game but he couldn't.

No one comes close to these two, everyone else was playing at half speed in comparison.

In terms of ability, there are tonnes of players that 'come close'. If those players were playing now; given the sport science involved then that ability would be unrivalled in some cases.

Ronaldo Luís Nazário was a phenomenal player. Zidane, Rivaldo, Garrincha, Cruyff, Platini, Marco van Basten, Lothar Matthäus, Baggio, Romário, Stoichkov, Klinsmann, Matthews, Yashin, Eusébio, Best, Kopa, Beckenbauer, Di Stéfano, Puskás, and Fontaine et cetera...

There is such a lack of perspective in modern football, it is all about the here and now.
