UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [6/7/8 November 2018]

Haven't you got loads of midfielders? Your two new signings weren't even playing tonight!
Problem isn't quantity but type of midfielder. With the Fekir deal falling through and Ox out for pretty much all of the season, our only creative central midfielder is Keita and he's had a few niggly injuries.

Unless I'm mistaken, if we beat Napoli by 2 goals on the final day then we'll qualify regardless of other results.

edit: Beat PSG and we're through, draw with PSG then any win vs Napoli is enough or lose to PSG and we need to win by 2 goals. All this assumes PSG and Napoli both beat Red Star.

This. On top of that Lallana seems fragile these days, Henderson is increasingly becoming a bit part player, Milner isnt getting any younger, Gini seems to go awol quite often in games and I'm yet to be convinced by Fabinho (I find myself wondering if he is in a similar vein as Can, a good player but needs a slower league as he seems to struggle with fast games, though its early days yet)... so overall the midfield looks like it needs tweaking , both for the short term and the long term. Creativity does seem to be an issue this season.

I think tweaking is the right word. We're a creative midfielder short and when you're a man short the last thing you need is to be without 3 other midfielders at the same time, especially your 2 creative midfielders.

You can't judge Fabinho just yet, he's going to need time to adjust to the tempo of the league and our game in particular. Hendo's start to the season has been unfortunate with the WC and then picking up the knock the other week. Lallana's been injured for 18 months and doesn't have the legs to play in our midfield anymore. Milner and Gini have been excellent on the whole but they've had to play every game because of issues with the others and it's no surprise their performances have started to tail off. Touch wood Hendo and Keita will be available from the weekend and things will look a bit better.

At least playing against Fulham they should be able to get some goal scoring confidence back!

Should.

If we lose to PSG doesn't it go on goal difference as the head to head will be equal? I think we will need more then 2 nil.

Annoyed with klopp for not taking red star more seriously. It was always going to be harder in front of their fans. Yet he plays the likes of matip and lallana. In a game where we needed a high tempo and to be on the front foot from the start, he picks lallana in midfield. Everything slows down when lallana gets the ball. He's just not the player he was two years ago. Injuries have finished him.

It goes to GD in the head to head games, not overall GD - it goes to overall GD if we were to get the same score as Napoli got, ie 1-0. Assuming Napoli and PSG beat Red Star and we lose to PSG, a 2 goal win vs Napoli would be needed.

And that is perhaps what sets Man City apart, they just dont seem to slump at all. A slump for Man City is failing to score 3+ goals in a game. I fear a slump for us will see Man City rapidly pull away in the league.

Well, they did lose to Lyon but since then pretty much spanking everyone. They are a class apart at the moment, same as last year.

Napoli play some really, really nice stuff to watch. I don't think PSG will win it because their defence will buckle. I'm tempted to put a fiver of Dortmund to get to the final.

I think matic used to be good...

He’s constantly telling all the player around him to pass it back to the defenders or goalkeeper. So ******* negative. Need to bin him off in the summer

UEFA even have the goal line officials and they still can't see a player stubbing his foot into the ground and falling over with no-one near. Talk about stealing a wage. City should have intentionally missed the penalty or allowed Shakhtar to score.

I'm sure everyone has seen this week's stories. Expect more of this.... that's a disgraceful decision and Sterling should be ashamed of himself.

Yup, I thought it was particularly funny/bad timing for a ref to give City such a call when they are under massive fire for cheating.

However, this whole cheating FFP thing coming up is doing my head in, the second a team that hadn't even won a title I think signed a I can't remember, 100mil a year sponsorship deal for shirt it was obviously fraudulent, then after winning a title they jacked it up to 300mil or whatever stupidness it was. From day one it was plain as day this money was coming from the owner by way of various businesses. PSG the same deal, in a league no one watches, with very little tv money, with absolutely on interest in it, with no competition PSG signed a monster and utterly ridiculous deal had it been the biggest team in the world, then a few years later they upped that one too. I'm fairly sure on here I said it the day they were announced.

Why because someone is saying it in leaked e-mails is it now a big story when we all knew it was fraudulent sponsorship deals and, not no one cared but the same level of outrage wasn't there.
