I don't know why Utd want to go through anyway, Arsenal the same, neither has the slightest hope in hell of making the final let alone winning. Both would have a viable shot of winning the Europa league, there is more money going through all the Europa league knock out stages and winning than there is going two rounds in the knock out stages of the CL, let alone just one(which is almost a certainty for Arsenal regardless of opposition).
I'm surprised that any Utd or Arsenal fans don't want a shot at winning the Europa over no chance in the CL.

Neither Arsenal or Utd have the squad to cope with the sheer number of Europa league games + EPL + FA Cup with no winter break
Well, we could maybe win the Europa League at least.
Doubt it though, and the football is so bad it's not even interesting. If you took the shackles off this team they'd be somewhat decent, and there's a reasonable balance too.
With the budget and resources we've got, there's no excuse for serving up this garbage every week. If it improves then fair enough, but it's quite clear what LvG wants.

Don't want to be playing in Azerbaijan on a Thursday night for that cup.
Especially when we need to be concentrating on being boring in the Premier League (Martial excluded).

But they want to go through to the CL anyway then? If that was the case why don't you want them to go out of europe altogether? Dump out of the FA cup and go for broke in the Europa league.
To be fair we have not played attractive football for nearly 10 years
It was flawed, but it was nothing like this and there were plenty of entertaining games (as well as routinely winning things). Frustrations with players like Valencia aside.
Utd cant go out of Europe all together we have too many points already
In general - the Europa league has a lot more games per season up to the final (many more games per group, and even after Christmas)
edit - and from a cup perspective I would take the FA cup over Europa every single time (even without considering the travelling/ odd day playing etc for Europa)
