UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [8/9/10 December 2015]

I just don't understand LvG, it's like he's trying to sink to new depths every week.

With 20 mins to go he takes off Juan Mata for....Nick Powell.

I mean everybody jokes that they think they could do better than the manager but I'd love to understand what was going through his mind there.

Exactly - very strange choice that, even Young in the No 10 position would have been better than that

Fellaini shouldn't have started , Mata was doing well in the position he was in , young should have come on when Darmian was injured (no problem with Bothwick Jackson, but it was a huge gamble that didn't pay off)

I may have even played Young to start with instead of either Lingard or Memphis (to save one as a tricky sub with 30 mins to go, although Young fulfils that description also)

Complete balls up by LvG

Such an emotional roller coaster. Also, even if the Europa league gives more money if you go through all the stages, I really don't care. I want United to be in the Champions League :(

Unfortunately, we're in the Europa league now so..yeah..

Utd cant go out of Europe all together we have too many points already

In general - the Europa league has a lot more games per season up to the final (many more games per group, and even after Christmas)

edit - and from a cup perspective I would take the FA cup over Europa every single time (even without considering the travelling/ odd day playing etc for Europa)

Europa paying out what 15-20mil for knock out stages and winning, FA cup paying out like 2mil, with more tv money per stage in europa and meaning a higher percentage of the winnings from next years european campaign in any competition(afaik) a result of a better ranking in europe.

I'd take a run in the europa league over the FA cup without a doubt. FA cup has become meaningless. If the FA actually decided to put in a decent prize fund and make the top four compete for it rather than ignore it, maybe. As it stands it's completely worthless to a top 4-6 team financially compared to a european cup.

It's not all about money blood!

Utd don't really need the money

they are printing it hand over fist already

Given the extra games in Europa on a Thursday , therefore playing Sunday EPL (both not great) with the injuries to both squads - its highly unlikely either will / would go far anyway so additional money / benefit in ranking is unlikely

You are also potentially risking a CL spot for next season vs (unlikely ) winning the Europa - not worth the risk at all

With both teams injuries at present, its not gaurenteed either will be in top 4 (the way EPL is this season) but its FAR more likely they will be there without the hassle of playing on a Thursday /Sunday combo , the additional travel (and squad wear and tear) etc etc

On top of that £20m is ****** all to either team, just from the money itself point of view

Quick question: i have been invited to two xmas parties. one at lunch time till late, and another after work.

ones from my former employee and the other is from where i work now.

originally i was just gonna go to the one from lunch time and head home in time for the arsenal game but now i just got invited to the other one!

Should i go or should i watch arsenal ? my worry is that arsenal will get knocked out and if they do i would be seriously ****ed for missing out on a xmas party over a defeat.

Also, i dont have bt sport in my sky so i cant record and watch it either..

I have no idea what LVG is seeing in Felliani that the fans aren't. He must play like Ronaldo and Messi put together in training. We only ever got 4 good games out of him per year and I don't think he's achieved those lofty heights at Manu. Yes signing him was a complete **** up by Moyes but continuing to play him is even more criminal.

It's time for LVG to go but I imagine they daren't risk it being in and around the top 4. Sacking Moyes was easy, he played horrible football and wasn't near the top 4. Sack this **** and drop out of the top 4 and it will look like a mistake. He's had long enough, with the funds and name of United to draw players there's no excuse for such drivel.

Time for Ancelotti, but football badly needs some new managers from the lower leagues to come through to stop these twunts on a merry go round collecting cash.

Didn't we have the easiest champs league draw?

PSV who just sold their best player..to us...
CSKA finished bottom
Wolsburg...maybe we should have signed their best player too. Would it gave helped though?

Is that a bad thing? At lest Origi runs in behind, something you clearly lacked against Toon

It's not no but origi having 1 good game doesn't mean he is the answer, I'm more frustrated Sturridge is out again I mean how many more parts of his body can fail we sent him to best surgeons etc and still it keeps happening he has missed more than he has played now and we have no other striker like him really that's the issue

you have to cut your losses at this point.. what length is left on his contract?

Wolf fully deserved to go through, over the whole group they were by far the better team and never should have had the losses vs utd and PSV. United were a total mess and never should have been in that position in the first place.

Van Gaal is a manager I rate, I feel whoever is in charge of transfers is selling them short.
