UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL ... Bayern Munich v Chelsea ... *** Spoilers ***

No you wouldn't.

That said they shouldn't have won any of the last 3 ties.

And Manu shouldn't have beaten Bayern, Liverpool should never have been allowed back into it when they won it and Chelsea shouldn't have been beaten in moscow against united.

No one cares about that anymore than they will care about Bayerns inability to score in this game.

There are ties all though the Liverpool, United and Chelsea runs that they shouldn't have won.Luckily football isn't just about the best team winning or it would be boring and there would be no upsets.

OK, so finances aside, give the option you'd rather stay in League One?

How about if guaranteed promotion back to the Premier League was on offer after 2 seasons with Megson's team playing awful stuff, but flirting with relegation from League One was on offer after 2 seasons under Dave Jones - but playing some really crafty football at times. Genuine question (not meaning to sound pedantic!) just interested by how much you'd value success - success determined by league position, as opposed to attractive football.

I'm not sure, that's a difficult question. I wouldn't say that the situation is a reflection of how I feel. It's quite hard to explain, I'd welcome a thread about it, as this really has transended the Chelsea victory (where I'm not allowed to be critical of them) and in to me defending my view point.

The Dutch in the most recent World Cup final were a good example, that is not how the Dutch play football, this is the nation that gave the world 'total football' and started a football cultural revolution that has had a huge impact on the global game. I'd have been sick and heart broken being a Dutch fan watching that. Beautiful football? No thanks, we'll try and win ugly.

Tbh they need to let it go now:p, its done and over with...fact is Chelsea won with their 'negative' tactics...tactics that won them the CL cup unfortunately.

What? Seriously Spawn, after the way Chelsea and the English press went on about Barcelonagate and the million penalties last time haha.

Right, question for everyone that reads the football threads. Slightly off topic, but related to this.

Do you think that is it luck? I mean is it really?

Do you not think that it's preperation meeting an opportunity? Rather then, say, pure dumb luck?

This isn't related to indivudal shots that deflect and go in, but rather a team turning up ala Barcelona, Chelsea? Were Chelsea really ~lucky in that sense? Or did the right opportunity arise and Chelsea take it?

I don't know if I've phrased that right, sorry for it being a little off topic. It's a thought that facinates me.

chelsea's biggest stroke of luck was terry getting sent off though i doubt this was a tactic.

Funnily enough i think it worked in their favour for some odd reason.

Tummy personally i think luck had a lot to do with Chelsea winning the CL, they had a massive amount of luck in the previous round when Barca couldnt score in the first tie then due to some lolworthy defending by Barca in the second tie, they somehow beat Barca.

Again pretty much luck that Bayern didnt put 4-5 goals past them in the final and also luck when Robben had his penalty saved along with the 2 missed penalties.

i think it had an awful lot to do with it.

as a side note, reading todays telegraph and torres is seeking confirmation of how his future lays with chelsea and has described his time there so far as some of the worst times of his career. the backing of abramovich and the fans are what stopped him throwing the towel in.

Not really a surprise. He wanted a 2 year contract and Chelsea wouldn't give him one so I expect he's after one big payday before calling it time. What better way to leave Chelsea than with the winning kick of the CL final.

Purely hypothetical of course, but I seem to remember Torres saying he was unhappy at how he was treated and that he would discuss his future with Chelsea? Could possibly leave.

Sky sports are reporting that Drogba is going to leave Chelsea. Would be pretty funny if their two main strikers left. To the cheque book!

Well he is getting on a bit and wants a nice pay packet before he retires...would be foolish of Chelsea to let him go as hes been their man to go to when they needed goals. Just give him a bumper pay deal for a couple of yrs then let him go, hes pretty important to Chelsea still.

Torres isnt going anywhere, hes just a bit miffed that his role wasnt bigger in the final...dont blame the lad for feeling that way but since he went to Chelsea hes hardly full of confidence.

Super pics Sim (coming off another thread ;) ) and congrats on the win :D As briefly mentioned in the other thread I myself took great pleasure in cheering in each and every Chelsea goal .... for record Nottingham Forest fan :)

Final is in Wembley next time....... I think I'm definitely gonna try and go, regardless of who is playing :D

Hope its Chelsea v Man City though, haha

Wouldn't that be good. :D

The tickets will be expensive but try the UEFA lottery around March/April next year.
