Diego Costa in Belgrade for "placenta" treatment on his hamstring injury:

Atletico Madrid is making a desperate bid to have Diego Costa available for Saturday's Champions League final by sending him for treatment using horse placenta.

The Atletico striker is doubtful for Saturday's match against Real Madrid in Lisbon due to a nagging right thigh injury, but Atletico is not giving up.

The club sent the Brazilian-born Spain striker to Belgrade to seek treatment from Marijana Kovacevic, who uses fluid derived from horse placenta to repair damaged cells.

"It all depends on the horse treatment used, but I have no idea about it as I'm not a doctor," Atletico president Enrique Cerezo said. "If it doesn't help him, then it's best he doesn't play."

Kovacevic has previously treated Robin van Persie and Frank Lampard, among a number of football players

Hope he makes the final.

Finish work at 5 then getting a train home, so won't be back in the house until like 9:30. My Dads going to record it so I'll be switching my phone off so I don't see the score!

Atletico have already got more than they expected by winning La Liga, I hope they turn up tonight but suspect the event may get the better of some of their players and they wont show their best.

I hope not, i really hope they do it. Would be quite an achievement, they've always had quality scouts and backroom staff at Athletico..

Surprisingly excited about this game, I think it's a combination of being the last real game of the season with a big gap to the world cup and.... I've had way way way too much caffeine today :p

Am actually really excited about the possibility of Atletico doing the double, Would be a ridiculously huge achievement for Simeone, one of the best managers around for me. Tiny budget, small squad, getting the best out of everyone and not relying on some kind of ultra defensive tactic to fluke their way to the top nor ignores defence with uber expensive and brilliant attackers. Just great all around football, something you don't often see these days.
