I really REALLY don't get players who won't sit on the bench with their team mates, or in the stand with their team mates and instead take the opportunity for a pay cheque doing commentary/punditry on a game this big. I think it's ridiculous to not be with your team mates in his situation....

This is even if the pundit team was brilliant and not irritating, Neville, Caragher and no Souness...still would sit with team mates.

EDIT:- makes more sense that he's going back, but I still wouldn't have left them at this point.

Would he be allowed to, even if suspended?
 
Alonso will be kitted up later for the presentation and photos etc. I doubt he'll have shin pads on though.
