This is the problem with Real, if they don't get in a good attacking pattern early they tend to be like this, can't get Ronaldo on the ball, aren't doing an awful lot in the final third with any quality.
When a team leaves space they can absolutely exploit that, maybe better than any other team around, but Benzema/Khedira/Modric don't do so well and quick tight passing to get it say 5-10 yards outside the box then make that killer throughball.
They really should have Ronaldo drop a little deeper/wider and let him run at the defence, he'll get fullbacks on yellow cards and make space for everyone else.

AM are keeping it basic and they look in control when they have the ball, RM are trying to rush things a bit this half.
He has to follow the defence out so he doesn't leave space for players running back in. Modric's error.
Yeah he was mad to be so far off his line with a ball on the way to that crowd in front of him but I couldn't resist a header joke.

It's the reason Guardiola is such an idiot, leaving SOOO much space for their attack to get at them, Real are superb with space to run in to and can struggle when forced to play through a good defence. How Guardiola got it SO wrong I don't know.

Correct, but he rushed out as the ball was coming back in, not as the ball went out. Looked like he came to gather it and thought "****, I'm not going to make it" and then it was too late

Ronaldo isn't up for it because AM did a job on him two or three times in the first 20 minutes.

So tempted to re purchase SS. ITV picture is awful commentary is even worse.
Yeah fair. If the defence had done their job he'd not have been in that position. Nobody covered themselves in glory!
I'm watching on ITV HD on Freeview and it seems fine? Is it that bad through SD then?

Yeah Madrid should have cleared there lines properly, but he has to take 95% of the blame for poor positioning.
A.Madrid playing tactical fouls, its working, I just hate that. Nothing worse than going through 4/5 players then getting took out
