** Uefa Champions League, Semi-final ** *spoilers*

We can get lucky like any team and get a clean sheet, but its embarassing how the goals always come from a 3rd or 4th runner into the box, the defenders can deal with strikers without a huge amount of problems, its the lampards, cahill's, Gerrard types that run late into the box that go completely and utterly ignored by our "defensive" midfielders who can't even remotely defend. From corners its the same, the same 3/4 people completely ignoring their duties.

Tonight for the goal Adebayor started of marking the area where the shot came from, for no idea I can gather he didn't run off down the pitch hoping for a break, he simply ran to a crowded opposite edge of the penalty box????? while ignoring the 3 man u players he ran past. Likewise Song was marking Ronaldo and utterly failed to notice when Ronaldo simply moved 5 metres away from him and Toure maybe moved to far but he looked to be following who he was supposed to be marking. Adebayor also flapped like a retard at the crap low Giggs corner, swing and a miss. He literally did nothing helpful the entire game.

Sorry but i'll bang on about Eboue again, he's someone with the pace to defend, runs the overlap, happily runs AT players and beats people regularly, largely due to fast acceleration, he'll change direction and use pace/strength to push past people. Theo Walcott simply doesn't have that, once he beat his man tonight, its pathetic. Likewise Theo's crossing, passing and general wingplay is horrific, while again Eboue got another assist with a fantastic ball in his last game. He has that vision to play in people like Fabregas, in any successful team you need a berbatov to get the ball and play it in, and someone like a Rooney to make the run in the first place. Eduardo/fabregas could easily be that combo, but with Ade upfront you get nothing at all. He doesn't make space by making runs to pull defenders away. Ronaldo and Rooney happily make runs to drag defenders to make space for OTHERS to get the ball, Ade doesn't move unless he's going to get the pass, thats what makes him entirely useless.

Great performance tonight, may not have been the result we wanted (though beforehand I would have taken any win with a clean sheet) Special mention goes to Anderson and Fletcher who both played out of their skin tonight. Rooney and Ronaldo were both excellent as well, tracking back when they needed to. I just wish we'd taken a few more chances, tevez in particular should have absolutely buried his early chance. Great finish from O'Shea, he played quite well tonight. Berbatov played well when he came on, tracked back well and on the attack his first touch and holding up the ball was superb.

should have been more then 1 goal....really thought uniteds attacks dominated arsenals defence they seemed to be all over the place at the latter part of the first half and when giggs came on.

Aye, really sad to see teams play so poor. Arsenal are ****, we showed them how to play football at the JJB and until the ref helps them out or they score they sulk.

Why do you always troll the team that loses?

........

Wasn't bothered about which team went through and arsenal can still turn it around. It wouldn't be the first time we have seen united go out after not taking the chances to finish a tie in the first leg.

cheets doesn't support a very good team so he feels the need to jump on any bandwagon going, he is also very bitter that Arsenal ripped Wigan a new one.

Would have liked to have been more goals but at this stage of the season taking a 1-0 back to the Emirates after the 1st leg isn't a bad thing. It certainly puts the emphasis on them having to come and attack us as a 2-1 would see us through. Im confident Arsenal can score 2 past us but not so certain they can keep a clean sheet.

Who is due back for Arsenal next week in terms of RvP etc.

I think Man U will score at The Emirates and I can't see us conceding 3 goals now the form seems to getting better.

But as we all know, all it takes is an early goal from Arsenal and the game is then completley back in the balance. I think it'll be 2-0 to Man U in the 2nd leg because Arsenal will be going at them and leaving gaps.

I thought Clichy would be back aswell as RvP. Whether we play 2 strikers or not is a different matter though. You can't really knock Ade when he was completely isolated for 95% of the game.

Terrible result for Arsenal. With the way they're defending, you've got to presume that Utd will score and i can't see them scoring 3.

Would that be longest run of clean sheets at home in 106 years for the club ;) We haven't conceded a league goal at home this year.

But yes our defense is rubbish.

Not a bad result in the end, still have a good chance to go through. I thought Gibbs was excellent, Song is fast developing into a good CM. Ade needs to work harder in games like that, although I'm not sure if that formation suits Eduardo either.

Drunkenmaster you bang on about Eboue, be he's rubbish when playing on the right wing. He looks 10 times more dangerours as a RB, but I wouldn't drop Sagna for him.

Wenger got the tactics all wrong last night imo, Fabregas needed to be in the middle with Song, Arsenal needed Fabregas to influence that game and instead he was never in the thick of the action

Why the **** do so many people from Hull support Man United or Liverpool? I swear to god they were out in force at the pub last night. The amount of "Come on United!"'s I heard in a blatant Hull accent wound me up no end. Bunch of glory-supporting ****faces.

I seriously hope we win the second leg, purely so I can stand on a table in the middle of the pub and shout "WHERE THE **** ARE YOU FROM? EH?" at them all.

Oh, I don't doubt there's a geographical motive to it too, but honestly, even outside of the pub last night, I've met an irritating amount of people from Hull who support United and Liverpool, and couldn't seem to care less about the team on their own doorstep. We're not talking randoms gathered in the pub to watch the game and cheer on a team here, it's the fully decked-out in United kits yet blatantly from East Yorkshire nobbers that wound me up.

Next week, they'll see. They'll all see.
