**UEFA CL & Europa League Qualifying 25/26th Aug Spoilers**

Did you see the game last night? The match changed significantly after Defoe scored. Any threat from the Swiss side pretty much disappeared after that. It's neither here nor there anyway, it wasn't the point I was making but in response to this comment :

i doubt it would've made an ounce of difference in the end

I disagree. Young Boys had one shot on target all game and that came in the second half (i.e. after Defoe's goal). In fact, I think Young Boys' best spell came in early in the second half. It was only after the 4th goal and the sending off that they completely gave up.

Trying to argue with an Arsenal fan about Spurs just aint going to work. :)

Congrats Spurs, looked doomed at 3-0 down but did very well to show some nerve and come back so strongly. Not sure how they'll fare in the group stages, but I'd give them half a shout of squeaking through.

Depends who we draw, I'd love us to draw 2 big teams, but I'd love it more if we went all the way; so 1 massive team and one team about the same standard to provide a challenge would be nice.

Bayern
Roma
Spurs
Partizan

Something like that? :cool:

Anyone getting Partizan needs to seriously watch Cleo. There's clearly more talent in the squad but if you can keep him quiet that's a good portion of the job done. Lamine Diarra can be lethal but that's mostly in domestic games.

Best draw for Milan is not to bother turning up but assuming we will: Panathinaikos (who we need to take seriously), Copenhagen and Hapoel Tel Aviv or Zilina. Worst case scenario would be Real Madrid, Tottenham/Braga/Ajax and Rubin Kazan.

Pot 4 is a complete nightmare because most of the teams are a right trek away (for the English teams at least) so I'll be hoping we get FC Twente or Auxerre from that pot. A trip to Russia to play on a plastic pitch or something similar can have a knock-on effective on the next domestic game.

Liverpool team for tonight (for what its worth)

........Reina
Kelly..Carra..Soto..Glen
.
Dirk.Lucas..Poulson..Aurelio
.
........Cole
................Ngog

Bench:
Gulacsi, Skrtel, Pacheco, Babel, Spearing, Shelvey, Eccleston

I expect the 2nd half subs to be
Ngog -> Babel
Dirk -> Pacheco
Lucas -> Spearing / Shelvey

Hopefully. Less $$$ in the owners pockets if we do :) Getting to the Semi of the EL last year gave as much cash as reaching, and getting knocked out in, the last 16 game in the CL. Although having a constantly sold-out ground compared to other teams obviously helped.

Probable silver lining is that they can concentrate on the league if they do.

I would like to this Shelvey fella play, see what he can do being English and all that. Quality on football manager as well :p

Hope Villa can pick themselves up from Sunday as well, always been partial to a bit of Villa doing well and it would be good to see them do well in Europe.
