UEFA Euro 2012 - Quarter-finals - ** spoilers **

Dire stuff from France tbh, people will probably say I'm mad but actually think England would have done better tonight than France have, not saying they'd have won but they would have at least had a bit of a go!
 
Seems the French thought they could try and play similar to England when they met on match day one but their defence just wasn't good enough. Glad to see the back of them, borefest. Hopefully England won't play like that tomorrow but I wouldn't put it past them.

Highly doubt it. England the way they've this tournament probably would've been very similar.
 
Agreed also, although I think I hate Adrian Chiles a little more than watching Spain. Tough one!

Indeed, I'd rather watch a team that balances possession with directness, Barca/Spain have gone too far in the possession direction... it's way too methodical for me but at the same time I don't want to watch Stoke going route one either.

The German style is a nice balance.
 
Spain never even had to get out of first gear for that. Sure they could score more but they always look so comfortable. There's a stat going around that Spain have something like 90% clean sheets in tournament football since 2008. You can criticise all you want but they are brutally effective at what they do.

Definitely. If it does end up a Germany v Spain final, I think for the first time ever I'll be supporting The Germans!

Not much, I think I'd have been better spending the time sleeping. Although it was a good header by Alonso, rubbish defending but still a good header.

Was it just me wondering if Ribery and Benzema had ever played together before? Tonight on the rare occasions when they did get into a reasonable position it looked like they'd struggle to find each other with neon signs pointing the direction.

I've got to hope that the match tomorrow night is more exciting.

I've found the whole tournament to be dull and lacking in entertainment and footballing quality, but then we are spoilt with champions league football and international football is now like watching the coca cola cup or what ever it's called these days.

Another couple of years and it will be as wanted by the players as a call up to the olympic team.

Not even playing a striker, how dull.
 
Del Bosque plays such a defensive, unadventurous, boring version of tiki-taki. How many shots on target were there tonight? One?

It's unfair to lump them in with Barcelona (or even Aragones' 2008 team), at least the latter actually try to attack. Spain look afraid to commit anyone ahead of the ball.

Busquets AND Alonso is a ridiculous setup.
