UEFA Euro 2012 - Semi-finals - ** spoilers **

Please can we combine this into the finals as well or do we really need another thread just for the final...becoming ridiculous now.

Portugal's Paulo Bento says team had penalty plan.

Honestly can't believe they were stupid enough to put the potential glory of one player ahead of the whole team.

It's not that surprising though.

Throughout the whole tournament virtually every freekick that Portugal got within 30yrds of goal was Ronaldo's cue to step up and try to be the hero, if he had just dinked the ball into the box once or twice to give his team mates a chance at scoring they might be through to the final now. I've lost count how many free kicks in promising positions he blazed over the bar or hit into the wall yesterday, the rest of his team were only there to feed off any rebounds.

Hardly. One good performance and one decent performance doesn't mask the utter shower of **** he showed in the rest of the tournament. His waste, appalling decision making, poor shooting and greed cost them quite big this tournament.

Indeed.

The media hype / fap fest over him was cringe worthy too.

Yeah it's uncomfortable listening to the media morons tbh. I was watching him quite closely as I was genuinely interested in his contribution to the team. He had one pretty good game, but even in that game he must have had 12 shots, 6 of which were just utterly absurd choices, almost parodying himself, and he only gets a 'pretty good' from me as he scored twice, he did so much to harm the team it almost cancels out the goals.

I'd agree.

I don't think he's been Portugal's best player in any one of their games. He made some bizzare decisions re; shooting. The BBC were (correctly) pointing out how poor Almeida's decision making was and how poor his shots were, but yet fawning over Ronaldo who was (imho) equally as wasteful and his decision making equally as poor.

I thought he was very good to start with, I'd have opted for Nani or Moutinho who I thought was fantastic, Veloso also showed his class.

Saying that, I knew exactly how good these players were pre tournament so it wasn't a huge surprise to see them play so well :p

Pepe and Alves were exceptional for the majority of the Semi final. They tailed off towards the end which was a shame.

Pepe is still a dirty, cheating player. haha

I thought Nani was Portugal's best player this tournament

+1/This/I agree/

Pretty much nailed on the head there. He wasnt that good for majority of the tournament...and his greed is unbelievable when it comes to free kicks.

Hime missing out on taking his penalties had me in stitches, they showed his face at one point after Spain had won and you could see him cursing away lol.

Yep, i also thought Postiga was decent until he got injured.

+1 I can't stand Pepe he's a disgrace the way he acts and he really gets my blood boiling

Nothing could ever make me support one of the teams so Italy to give a good football lesson to that other team tonight.

You may remember 'Paul the octopus' from the 2010 World Cup who predicted all of Germany's results correctly? Well now every poor animal in western Europe seems to be dragged out biennially to cast their vote.

The latest is a Polar bear called Antonia in Gelsenkirchen zoo, who plumped for Italy to win tonight.

Teams:

Germany: Neuer; Boateng, Hummels, Badstuber, Lahm; Khedira, Schweinsteiger; Kroos, Ozil, Podolski; Gomez

Italy: Buffon; Balzaretti, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Marchisio, Pirlo, De Rossi; Montolivo; Cassano, Balotelli
