UEFA Euro 2016 Group B ** spoilers** (England, Slovakia, Russia, Wales)

So even though I don't consider Rooney too intelligent, he can either support the England Manager who picks Rooney for any position despite it being detrimental to the team, or he can have a spat and not get picked...hmm...I wonder what he would say...as he probably has advisors to speak for him then I think he will be in support. :p

I thought this was a great joke... Then I realised you were serious

Rooney has been our best player at this tournament. Followed very closely by Walker.

Not winning the group has created us a far more difficult route to the final. We've now got to beat France, Germany and Italy or Spain, where we would have avoided them until the final.

If the idea is to do side ways safe passes I would agree. He was poor in the first game, he was ok in second and third he came on with classic spraying long Beckham passes to no where but the crowd.

If you think Rooney is our best then we are screwed

I doubt I am alone in thinking Roy has screwed us by not going for the top spot. That half of the draw looks might easy compared to France, Spain, Germany, Italy.

2 out 3 aint bad :D

The Wales win was lucky to be fair, Vardy's goal was fortunate to have flicked off of a defender (right place right time but still) and the late goal was more an act of pure desperation. By and large we're struggling to put the ball in the net against mediocre teams.

He has, completely screwed it, well dodgy move that was... although, the quality in the team should have still won that game.

That sums England up for the last 16 years or so (the only time I can remember it being any different was when "football's coming home", but being the host it changes the view somewhat - not to mention some really world class players in the team at the time like Shearer , Sherringham etc)

I wouldnt be that surprised if Iceland beat us, by all accounts they shouldnt do but they will sit back and hit us on the break when they can and it will be very like the Russia /Slovakia games with huge amounts of possession but little to nothing to show for it.

Had to laugh that when Portugal's game finished they were facing England (good for them), but by the time the other game finished they werent - serves them a bit for sitting back and doing nothing for the last 10 minutes or so

Tbh, England's aim shouldn't be to "get to the last 8" or the semi-finals, etc. Because that is just as much determined by luck of the draw as anything else, as this tournament is showing, with all the "favourites" in one half.

The aim for England should be not to be knocked out by the minnows. Like Iceland, or Russia, or Slovakia.

The aim should be to put on a respectable performance, which gives the fans something to cheer about. The aim should be to display the skill their astronomic premier league wages indicate.

To not look like a pub team; to not be an embarrassment. To show a bit of quality. To get their **** together.

The stated goal of reaching the quarters or the semis just shows how the mentality is all wrong. Winning will come naturally if you play good football, most of the time (luck can still screw you, but generally you get what you deserve).

We have been playing decent football, we've controlled games, we've just been a bit toothless up front. Spain only beat the Czechs, France have left it late to beat teams, Belgium haven't looked great. It's a tournament at the end of the day, no one gives a monkey about good football, just as long as you win. Compare Italy for example, they love playing as a unit, be good at defending, they've always been good at it, if England do that, we're apparently pathetic and defensive. It's like you can't win. I can guarantee that the Germans would not care one bit if they had to play rough to get past an opponent. There hasn't been any team so far in the tournament that's played incredible football, a lot of them have been quite bitty.

Our goal should definitely be to win it, there's no point coming here otherwise. There isn't one footballer in the last 16 that won't believe they can pull off something special. Even the Iceland team will be thinking it, get numbers behind the ball, be organised and take your chances when they come, if they win, they'll believe they can do the same again to France or Ireland.

Yeah I had a chuckle at that, I haven't open it but I assume he's talking about Guitar Hero or something?

I think he means surrounded by not part of :P even that is quite a claim to make.

EDIT: To be serious though he is a talented footballer with a lot of potential - I get the impression though only from a distant perspective so could be completely wrong that he has kind of bought into the belief that he is much better than he is - with a bit of a reality check he'll either go onto become a much better player or it'll break his confidence and he'll crash out.
