UEFA Euro 2016 Group B ** spoilers** (England, Slovakia, Russia, Wales)

If Sterling is as useless as he was against Russia and Roy doesn't substitute him, and if he doesn't use Vardy should Kane be absent again, then I think Roy should be shipped off to the OAP home early.

I just haven't seen anything to suggest he's better than Vardy. Sterling's got just 2 goals in 24 caps, and both came across soft opposition, Vardy's got 3 from 8 caps and all against decent opposition. For me, it should Vardy and Kane up front, with Rashford brought on part way through the second half if we need fresh legs up front.

I agree, but i wouldn't have started Stirling in the first place but since Roy has, i suppose he has to give another chance to the the starting line up he originally chose. I would have had Kane and Vardy up front as well and done everything to fit a system around that.

Do what France did (no Pogba or Griezmann at the start) - put a few new players on from the start and if it doesnt work you have subs to use...

Might as well give others a chance unless Roy thinks this lineup is his best one

Yeah, I guess that's a fair point. I think I'd still rather the manager tweaked the team in response to player's performance in the tournament itself.

Yea, it depends how you view it. 3 games in the group, be ruthless and drop people after 1 game or do you assess it after 2? Roy's done the latter which people can't really have any quibbles with. If Stirling was'nt very good today and still kept his place then you'd have to wonder, it would be dam right unfair on the other players not to get a game when someone isn't performing. Deschamps on the other hand, dropped the players that didn't perform straight off the bat, but tbh, their games were a bit easier, and France were always going to go to the latter rounds, a bit of squad rotation is needed to keep people fresh. I feel for Vardy though, what more does he need to do to start a game. I suppose someone has to lose out, it's harsh on anyone.
