UEFA Euro 2016 Group B ** spoilers** (England, Slovakia, Russia, Wales)

At several points just then there were 21 players in the Wales half, but Rooney decided to stand in line with the back four rather than stand anywhere in the massive gap of area with 4 Wales players and no England players. There was no one standing to take a pass half way between the centre backs and the front line. Then he gets the ball anyway and just gives it back to cbs.

Get Rooney off now!!! Such an overrated waste of space!!!!

He's not playing terrible, however he's trying to show off his cross field passing OR trying to hit a dime ball through the middle, and they are not really helping.
Need to use the width more but with speed, get the ball moving quicker!

Shirts, every other England fan has a Rooney shirt, they love him, he's worth money to the FA. The FA treat competitions as a financial injection, they don't think we can win so they pick the team that is the most commercially viable, Rooney will start while that is true.

He is, though, aside from that, his constant passing crossfield because fans think that is really difficult and they praise him for it, and it's the only thing he can do(because it mostly relies on the other guy moving to the right place to receive it). HE is insanely slow on the ball, he's taking half an hour to pick out every pass, literally just now he got the ball, barely jogged 5 metres and lost the ball. He hasn't got the brain to be a pivot player and certainly not the defensive quality to do so, as a more creative attacking midfielder again he hasn't got the brain. You need a Fabregas who turns, looks and makes a decisive pass quickly, he is everything you don't need in the position he's trying to play.

He's actually deeper than Dier more often than not, and Dier is the one left to try balls over the top. Was it John Hartson who said Rooney was an 'intelligent player' in the build-up?

Not a lot to love about Sterling. I always used to say he was average, but i'm quickly changing my opinion to be that he is in actual fact dog ****.

I think the problem is he is under the impression he is better than he is - I think that miss early on will go a long way towards either making of breaking him at this level.
