UEFA EURO 2016 Play-off and International Friendlies ** spoilers ** [11th - 17th November 2015]

That is the first and only positive thing I've seen him do in an England shirt though, the rest of the game has consisted of poor control and losing the ball a lot. Same last game.

Prior to today he had 53 minutes over 3 games for England

He's young in his first season in a top league. That is first season in front of huge crowds. You give younger players games like this because they will often be terrified and overawed at the occasion.

Is this his first start at Wembley, against far stronger opposition and lets be honest this isn't a remotely normal game. This is an emotionally charged post terrorist attack game. He's 19 and you'd find a hardened 30 year old maybe struggling today.

I wouldn't judge anyone on their performance today frankly let alone laying into a 19yr old kid in a tough game.

And? I thought he looked crap during those 53 minutes. And today.

He smashed in a wonder goal though, so everyone will toss themselves off about how good he is and ignore how bad his play has been generally, just like happens so much with Rooney.

19yr old played 53 minutes in total and already trying to write him off lol. No wonder England players can never flourish anymore.

Yup, all good points. He's young, give him time and a patient education, and he'll likely be a very useful player. 16 goals from midfield in a season in any division is a good record, especially as an 18 year old. How anyone fan write him off now is utterly moronic.

Rooney scores an actually good goal from open play? Was not expecting that

Apparently the rarely seen "stab volley" technique employed by him.

Knew this would happen, even when he's committed a foul now, it's being described as a good foul. He's a legend already.
