DId I hear correctly that Di Maria scored 1 and assisted the other 3!?
He was good, one assist was just a freekick, decent but pretty standard. Germany played 0/4 first team defenders, something a few people seem to be not noticing though
Team was Durm, Howedes, Ginter, Grosskreutz, Kroos, Kramer, Schurrle, Reus, Draxler(got injured first half), Gomez, second half which was effectively 2 all Germany had bought on Pod for Drax, then brought on Muller/Gotze.
It was a very weak team with the least effective first team players left in, Kroos and Schurrle. They were much more threatening with Muller/Gotze on, but still not good.
Either way it was potentially the best team Argentina could put out, without the team all working towards feeding Messi they played as a team rather than Team Messi. I wouldn't read a massive amount in to it. It was a good performance but he didn't dominate Germany's first team by any stretch.
I really don't understand Mert and Lahm retiring, they are 29/30 respectively, they haven't had any drop in level from their best yet while Spain's team had multiple players who had been getting worse year on year for 4 or more years. Seems incredibly odd they'd give up now when favourites for the euro's and no reason to believe either will go from great to **** in only 2 years.
