UEFA Euro 2016 - Quarter-finals **spoilers** (30th June - 3rd July)

So happy with that game. In regards to the Belgium defense, they still didnt beat us in qualification when they had a stronger team. As for Portugal, that worries me, they havnt won a game that hasnt been dictated by penalties so they have a lot of luck on their side.

forgot to post this yesterday but did anyone else think that the polish manager :-

looked a bit like this guy :-

Wales exhausted all their tournament luck in one game there, can see some dodgy decisions going Ronaldo's way in the semi. Dodgy hand ball, or penalty incoming.

What a fantastic result for Wales, well done. How utterly embarrassing for England that a team, that hasn't qualified for a major tournament since 1986??? Has gone further than our lowly England haha.

And quite how Belgium are number 2 in the world is truly beyond me, I'd put the likes of Chile and Argentina well above Belgium.

Try 1958.

Meh, Wales came into the game after a completely terrible start. Belgium did the opposite, got a goal and forgot how to play football. However before the 3rd goal Wales should have had a red card, then a penalty(was Williams already on a yellow? don't think so), and should have been 2-2 with Wales down a player.

Ref turned into a giant bottling idiot, the only decision he got wrong in Belgium's favour that I can recall was the potential yellow for Hazard, though in general when a player thinks he's fouled and grabs the ball it's not always given as a yellow card, it's effectively understood why they did it, it was also an obvious foul on him in the first place.

Was it not long before the goal that Ald got a yellow for a 'foul' on Ramsey, in which Ramsey completely dived. I do think Wales used up all their luck, had the favour of a terrible ref and cheated a bit. Bale again did nothing, he's got 3 goals, two from embarrassingly awful goal keeping and I can't remember what the third was but apart from the goals he's been invisible for 95% of the games he's been in.

It was a great finish for both the 2nd and 3rd Wales goals, almost any half decent defence wouldn't have let the 2nd happen, the 3rd was good but any half decent ref wouldn't have let Wales be in that position, they should have been hanging on for dear life while down to 10.

Savage.... I give him a lot of crap which he deserves and in the other Wales games he was horrifically biased. Tonight he deserves credit, he was insanely happy when they scored and that is fine, but when Ramsey dived and when he obviously handballed it Savage called them both correctly, he also said the other yellows were clear fouls and deserved and he said Wales should have had the guy sent off and that it was a clear penalty. I think the bosses told him to do his job better, be unbiased and to be fair he did a very good job that for a change. In earlier games he would have called every yellow a poor decision and said Lukaku and whoever got their foot stepped on had dived.

Wilmots, joke of a manager, no team just individuals then brought Fellaini on.

Seeing as the last three matches between Wales and Belgium have resulted in two wins and a draw for Wales, I think there was a bit more than luck involved.

I breathed a sigh of relief when they brought Fellaini on :D

Refs not sending off someone for a blatant trip when a striker is through on goal, likewise not giving a ridiculously obvious penalty is not down to good play. I would also say three defenders making a single attacker in the box and all at the same time choosing to run away from the best position to block any attempts at goal is all pretty heavily down to luck. Also beating them in previous games has no bearing at all on this game.

Most importantly I said Wales came back into the game and never claimed it was all down to luck, however a better ref and not the biggest synchronous brain fart by three defenders I think I've ever seen and Wales almost certainly would not have gone through.

Bale has a quiet game yet we still beat a top class team 3-1 to reach the semis and become the top scoring nation in the tournament! Unbelievable!

After Monday night, Euro 2016 is the gift that keeps on giving :D

There is no such thing as luck and teams certainly don't have measurable quantities of this so called attribute.

Wales can go all the way. It's just 2 matches now.....!

Exactly - you could have left Fellaini (on his own) in the box to head every single chance and he wouldnt have got one chance on target - L

Will Hal Robson-Kanu still be "unemployed" after this tournament?

You mean the young English lad? I highly doubt it, youd think not anyway, would do a decent job for a championship side.

I'd be happier for Wales if they were actually Welsh. Its all well and good Savage and co going on about Wales' population but when half your squad isnt Welsh it's a silly comment.

Having watched my team fail, it's nice to see Wales do what they are doing.

Yeah, this. I always back the British sides. England are the team I support most, but the others are home nations too. Chuffed to see Wales doing well, and that the Wales-Iceland final is still on the cards ;)

I can't see Portugal winning against them, to be honest, they've been deeply ordinary and needed a hefty helping of luck to get this far. Wales simply look a better side.

Oh come on you miserable lot.

How many players who qualify to play for England - across all sports - were born somewhere else.

Heck, we've had Canadian tennis players, South Afircan cricketers, etc, etc, etc.

Bitters :p

They will beat Wales, they are just that team to scab their way to the final!

As amusing as this might be, none of them would get into the England squad because they're not famous names. Don't worry about whether they have passion, drive, a desire to win etc. their shirts don't say Rooney or Sterling or Sturridge so they'd never have got a look in anyway :p

That's the whole problem with the England squad, the players selected either need to be famous names or play for a top 4 club. While ever our scouting consists of selecting whoever is the flavour of the day and most marketable and then shoe-horning them all together we'll be ****.

I don't believe that England managers have much freedom though, I suspect the FA dictates a lot of things which impact the playing side.

Where are people getting this from? How many of this Wales side have had amazing seasons? How many of the England squad have had poor seasons? The only players that shouldn't have been near the team are Rooney and sterling. The rest of the squad just underperformed in a **** system with a **** manager. How do Argentina not win lots with the team they have. It's a ridiculous squad with world class players at their peak all over the place. Leicester have shown us that a team all pulling in the same direction can be very strong and that is something this England side lack.
