UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL ... Liverpool v Sevilla ... **Spoilers** [18th May 2016]

Great result!

I'm not fussed about Seville winning it, I got more satisfaction for Liverpool winning it because:

a) they knocked us (Man Utd) out of it
b) Klopp winning a trophy in his first season would have had dire consequences
c) it means they don't have European football next season and finally
d) if we win the FA cup trophy we'll have had a (marginally) better season than them.
e) purdy goes bananas

i actually wanted liverpool to win. as soon as i stopped watching, they fell to pieces

Careful, LVG could be staying..

That's even more reason to celebrate us having a better season.

I'm trying to savour as much of it as possible because there is no doubt that Klopp will get them performing well within a few transfer windows.

The lack of european football to offer could be a body blow to potential summer transfers

This is what annoys me about football. There is so much short-term-ism.

What ever happened to building a team, having confidence in the manager and working towards a goal? I guess we often forget that to be a great footballer you don't really have to be as professional as you would in any other non-sporting career. You just have to be able to kick a ball and be fit (sweeping generalisation).

What good is it (for the players) for Man Utd to be in the Europa league? We tend to get battered in it.

just having european football isn't the only deal maker. maybe the scouting networks should work harder scouting the lower leagues. just don't offer them a yt wage :D

Being a gang of bottling nob heads is probably the bigger blow to potential transfers

This is also true. The whole 'no Europe makes it harder to sign top players' is mostly made up. Klopp and Liverpool are still a very attractive proposition. It's not even his squad yet.

He's done a fine job of transitioning them into final losers.

They aren't attractive enough and I doubt we'll be challenging for the league, so when the run in (if we make it) for fourth comes, we'll slip up yet again like the pack of ****ing fannys we are

I mentioned in my first post in this thread that we're a side that needs to be at the top of our game or else we're in trouble. We push so many people forward to press the opposition that if we give the ball back quickly we're left exposed. Moreno being Moreno for the first goal but the 2nd and 3rd were a result of our overly adventurous pressing/attacking. As soon as we lost the ball we were wide open for them to attack us and credit to them, they were clinical.

We should have had at least 1 pen (the first and third appeals were both pens imo) but we've got to sort ourselves out defensively - Moreno time and time again proves he's a liability at the back and too many other players have sloppy, stupid mistakes in them all too often.

That goal they scored killed us, after that our heads dropped and they had their tails up.

We simply weren't at the races after that.

The reffing decisions were terrible though.

And now Liverpool…
