Well, if one good thing has come out of this is that everyone will finally accept that Moreno is absolutely not the best thing since Riise, but a one-footed turkey.

Got back from the game at 4am this morning. Maybe I had a different feel of things, but I thought our goal was against the run of play in the first half. Despite a few good chances, Sevilla seemed to be first to everything and passing better. Heads went down with the equaliser going in so quickly and seems like we never really got going after that. Not sure about the contentious decisions as I haven't seen them yet, but the third goal seemed very confusing, with the lino flagging and then the ref overruling. Overall though it just seemed like Sevilla deserved it on the night.

Disappointing end to the season.

I just thought Liverpool lost to a better side, both on the night and in general. There's no shame in that, they tried, scored, but ultimately were not good enough.

Klopp has work to do, but there were positives over the season for him. Doubt it will be long before Liverpool are in more finals under Klopp.

This is also true. The whole 'no Europe makes it harder to sign top players' is mostly made up. Klopp and Liverpool are still a very attractive proposition. It's not even his squad yet.

In one sense the fewer games (no europe) next season should make your league campaign that much easier so even with just a few astute buys Liverpool could easily seriously challange for CL places (and maybe even the title depending on luck etc)

Then you think of WHU (a new, larger, stadium can work for and against attracting new players - ie the folklore that its hard to get the "correct" home results in a new stadium, but its still London and its still "THE Olympic Stadium", and they are possibly in Europe too and already have a very decent team in general. Potential direct competitors for the same players?

No slight to Southampton but maybe not quite so well known as the other two so will probably be trying to attract different players.

The "lost" income isnt that great even before you compare the rise in TV money so that wont have much of an effect (not sure if Liverpool have sponsorship deals which are affected by not playing in Europe, but I doubt it will have an effect from missing a single year anyway).

I will be amazed if the really top names being bandied about in the press arrive though - I guess we will see by Sep 1st
