UEFA Nations League Group Stage Matchday 4 [12th - 14th June 2022]

Also all the England players are VERY overrated. They look great with talented foreign players carrying them every game but on their own they get found out to be average players they are. It's that simple.

Rubbish, they don't get to play at the highest level for a top 4 club in the EPL by being carried by foreigners. The simple reason they don't look great at International level is because it's a step down and everyone knows it. Liverpool or Man City would have put 8 past the Italy team that won the euros.

I can't believe you actually think they carry an English player these foreigners, you know from leagues not winning anything.

Golden generation wipes the floor with this mob, 96/98 era considerably better too. Harry Kane is good but let's not kid ourselves he is any better than Rooney or Shearer, you look beyond him and its a sea of overhyped 'talent' that's not achieved anything and mediocrity.

Doubtful, the golden generation cared less about international football than this lot. Southgate at least has got them more interested in it. The golden generation couldn't even be bothered to play friendlies. I'm a big fan of Rooney and think he's under rated due to his character, but his best game for England was probably his debut. He turned up for less games than Kane.

It's the nations league. They might as well field championship players.

And lastly for all the talk of Ramsdale being England no 1 if Pickford had performed how Ramsdale did for the first 3 goals all the memes would have been in full flow. He was terrible. I mean watch those goals, he was crap and other times in the game he looked lost.

The "golden" generation would be goosed and chasing shadows after an hour.

I said at the time that England dont have an International level goalkeeper and I stand by that. Ramsdale was awful.

Ramsdale was awful.
Been saying for months that Ramsdale is trash, yet another overhyped keeper - he's one of the worst in the league. Interesting stat, he ranks 40th out of 42 PL goalkeepers last season in Goals saved compared to Post Shot xG, allowing 4.6 more goals than expected based on the locations for an 'average' goalkeeper. He ranked 200th out of 218 in the big five leagues combined. He's garbage.

Indeed. Utter twaddle.

International football HAS always and WILL always be played to a lesser standard then club football, it's just the nature of the game. Less training, no open market to pick from and most importantly less time to allow any real dynamic to develop between players, regardless of talent at club level. An outstanding player or indeed half a dozen of them does not by default make a world class team.

The only golden generation we've had was back in 1966.

Southgate, has been the only English manager to reach a major final since Sir Alf Ramsey.

This is where context needs to be shown. Our 2002 World Cup is arguably our best one. We lost to Brazil 2-1 and was in the lead to begin with! Our group was also tough. I honestly believe if we had beaten Brazil we would have won it. Germany got to the final and we thrashed them 5-1 a year earlier.

I would also rank 1996 above both our recent tournaments. He'll even 1998 might have been different had Beckham not been a noob.

Also when the vast majority of the England Squad are being coached by Pep, Klopp and Tuchel it is like being with a temp teacher when with Southgate and we all know how kids act when around a temp teacher. We have all been there.

This times a million, been saying for years we got to the WC semi and the Euro final inspite of Southgate not because of him, we've had a defend 1st mentality under him and it's been horrible to watch and I guess the attacking players have been stunted because of it.
I've not watched any of these games because it really is the most stupid timing ever but UEFA have to try and drum up some interest in international football but with a midseason world cup the worst thing ever thought of was this 'tournement'

When ppl keep saying thing over and over they actually start to believe it.

So in your mind we don't actually need football managers anymore?

How did you come to that conclusion? There is a reason top top class managers are few and far between and the very best ones are highly coveted. Having a **** manager vs a good one makes a huge difference. Southgate is a **** manager.

A **** manager with a good team will be worse than a great manager with an average team.

A couple of bad results and the wolves are at the door.

A Semi-Final and a Final, our best results in decades, doesn't look like a **** manager to me.

That's some pretty impressive mental gymnastics to come up with that, I've read my post several times and still cannot fathom where I've said that we no longer need football managers, what I'm saying is with Southgate we have a crap manager and what we need to do is replace him with a half decent one, look at the one's out there who have actually got their teams playing decent football without the riches to pick from for the English national team (we do have a very good squad of players to choose from).
Look at what Graham Potter is doing at Brighton or even how Eddie Howe has turned around Newcastle sure they had a couple of signings but the football is much more progressive than under Bruce, when you have poor negative managers then the football they turn out is poor and negative, look at the transformation of Burnley when Dyche was relieved of his duties, if they'd dropped him a few games earlier they may have stayed up.

Been saying it for years, shouldn't have been appointed in the 1st place.

The easiest runs to both I've witnessed in my lifetime, World Cup we lost to Belgium twice and Croatia once, only decent teams we played beat us. Euro's we had Italy on the ropes and should've beaten them but Italy saw an issue made a tactical change and then completely out played us and The Mighty Southgate didn't notice that change and kept banging the same until it was too late and we were at penalties

That's as maybe but they at least had high talent levels. I mean just look at CB, you've got Campbell, Ferdinand, Terry who do absolutely wipe the floor with the current crop. Nobody with a straight face is going to try and tell me Stones and Maguire (or Mings or whoever) is the same calibre as those three. Certainly Euro 2004 I saw Cole, Campbell and Rooney very committed / high performing.

WC semi is a nice headline but when you dig under the covers, we lost to every competent team we played that tournament (Belgium, Croatia, Belgium). No team in the entire tournament lost more games than England!
