UEFA Team of the Year

What I don't understand is that Messi actually plays as a forward for most of the game.
If you go to the UEFA Fantasy Football they even have Messi as a forward but Ronaldo as a midfielder which is how I would see it.

Of course it's opinions, but a lot of peoples are ill-informed. It's just daft saying someone who spent half the season as a super-sub and a part of it injured is worthy of a place over Ronaldo who carried a team to a CL semi, a Championship and a Domestic Cup final, and not only that, but also the best player in the European Cup this season (top goal scorer and highest points earner in FF too).

Just seems daft for people to asy it, so as I said before, it's down to jealousy or ignorance.

Messi played 23 games in the league last season and scored 14, hardly just a substitute.

So he played in just over half then? (which I said - around half)
How many of those were starts compared to bench appearances? (they both count as appearances statistically).

O'Shea played around than that for Man Utd last season I think. He is a substitute.

Edit: O'Shea played in 33 Premier League games last season. He's a substitute. So yes, Messi's appearances do resemble that of a substitute.

Tough choice for me between Reina and Chech for goalie. However I think the Liverpool defence isn't as good as Chelsea's so by that logic Reina has a bit more work to do
