***UEFA Women's EURO England 2022***

It's not even the corners though, none of the goals last night were in the corners. It just seems the goalkeepers are mostly **** compared to the outfielders. Maybe they just don't have any good goalkeeping coaches.

It's a bit of a dilemma though re: goal posts.

a) Make the goal posts smaller and people that knock the women's game will use it to diminish it as not as good as the men's.

b) Keep the goals the same and as long as women are smaller on average than men, then women goalkeepers will continue to struggle to get to the corners. It's only going to get worse as the outfield is just getting better, and better, and better.

Its not as good as the mens game. I can't believe that people are watching these games and thinking they are even close in speed or quality. They are entertaining but for different reasons to the mens games.

Making the goals smaller would be made fun of but who cares. People need to take things less seriously. It would make the game a bit better IMO but it would have a host of issues at a lower level as most goals are of a standard size.

You can find taller women to be keepers but women don't scale like men so once they get to a certain height they generally lose athleticism. Men do as well but its at a height that isn't relevant to football.

Some of it is technical for sure but some of it is purely physical. To fill a goal you want to be 6'3" ish, preferably with a positive ape index. Most of the womens keepers aren't even close to that and the taller they get the slower and more gangly they are.

For one of the goals last night (the lob) their keeper should have used one arm to save it to extend her reach but instead used both and couldn't get enough height to stop it properly. That was a technique issue.

They will keep getting better I'm sure but there will always be fundamental issues due to womens physiology and the size of the goals.

Doesn't actually matter though as all womens teams will have the same issue of size. The only issue is more women getting into the game, so more talent available and improving the coaching of those players.

Englands keeper seems pretty decent and some of the other teams have been as well. Better coaching and further along in their process.

Up to a point, yes, but there are still far too many super soft goals in the womens game due to the keepers being undersized. Its a very obvious drop off in quality vs the rest of the game which is a shame.

Yeah, makes for a lot of lol goals. I think this will reduce somewhat with more coaching and improving the overall womens game.

Even if it does I cant see myself regularly watching womens club football but international tournaments, yeah.
