Hughes vs Gracie.

Its on Saturday night but i think thats in the states, should be sunday on bravo for us brits.

My money is on Gracie as im a big fan of his and his fighting really amazes me.

Your opinions?
 
I'll probably watch it all, but with a dose of ffw now and again. The hype machine is just too much sometimes.

I'm quite intrested to see Brandon Vera fight, oh and Mike Swick vs Riggs is worth a watch too.

I would expect the UFC will show the 4 main fights, then they will probably show a couple of the other 5 fights hopefully.

However, the UK ppv will get about 3 fights :rolleyes: .
 
I also think Hoyce will get beaten by Matt, things have moved on a lot since his heyday.

I also like too see Sanchez, he's a great prospect.
 
If Royce Gracie is still in good shape then it will be a good match. He has been extensively training his stand up. My money is on Hughes though, providing it does not go to the ground. Then I wont have a clue, but I would suspect that Gracie would own Hughes on the ground. Plus Royce will not be wearing his Gi.
 
oh my I flew right pass vera on the list, that guys amazing. I think in a while he will threaten chuck lidell as he wants to drop to light heavy weight at some point.
 
OMG UFC is on?? I havent seen it for sooooo long, I watched it when Ken Shamrock (awesome) was in it. I stopped watching it for a while because I got fed up with all the wrestling and rolling about on the ground, thats what nearly all the fights turned into, first to ground and get on the top. I like the more Bruce Lee stuff ;).

What channel is it on, Sky Sports?

Mat isnt known for his stand up. Hes more reknown for his GnP. if u wanna see how this may go, re watch hughes versus newton or hughes vs charuto. If hughes gets a chance he will pound royce. But i think hes a bit susceptible to submissions. but the fact the guy can power out of armbars and triangles, it'll be interesting to see how royce will deal with this. for once hughes is gonna fight someone who has been in with stronger more powerful opponents than himself.

Hughes speciality on that one. I actually cannot believe that Hughes almost got Gracie to submit. If that happened then the Gracies would be paying Hughes their 10k "Gracie Challenge" money!! It was my expected outcome tbh.

What a boring fight to watch though :(
 
I agree with panthro, the Hughes v Gracie fight was very disappointing, as I predicted earlier, things have moved on and Gracie wasn't up to the task anymore.
 
Boy oh boy that was a good event!!

I was shocked Gracie didnt tap, but that guy has too much pride!

Enjoyed the other fights, Diego one was very unique and if his opponent pushed the paces he could have won by KO. Vera yet again shows us he means business too, cant wait for that guy to fight again!!

Bring on 61.....cant wait for Arlovski to fight again!
