UK customer service stories

Quite a few years ago I joyfully bounced into a branch of my bank to pay my mortgage off and was served by a girl who looked like she'd just left school, and as it turned out, didn't really partake in the education bit.
Anyhoo, all the paperwork etc was done, and then she proceeded to ask me if i'd like to take out a bank loan.
Took the wind right out of my sails that did.
I wasn't expecting a ticker-tape parade with balloons and a cake, but FFS.
In full Karen mode I did ask to speak to the manager and asked him why the **** would I want a loan when I've just given them a bunch of money, but it fell on deaf ears.
They all have sales targets to hit or they are out. Her logic was probably that now you are debt free you may want to get some new debt to buy a car etc... because you're clearly a good credit risk :)

she was doing her job, sorry but I think your over reacting on this one, she has probably been asked to offer loans to every customer

its like when you go to the submarket and don't have a Clubcard and don't want one, yet you get asked every time you go into a supermarket
they are only doing their job

Yup gotta agree on that one, yes common sense, but she probably gets audited if she doesn't ask.

I work for a mortgage lender and work with intermediaries (mortgage brokers basically) and done bright spark in upper management thinks it's a good idea at every point of contact to ask the broker if they have any more applications for us.

So you can imagine:

Hello Mr Broker, yeah sorry I have to decline this application you submitted and I can tell you why (if it's fraud you can't tip them off) so sorry about that (insert here the usual abuse you will get).....but do you have any other applications for us?

Yeah, she probably did/does, but c'mon, there's a point when you've just got to read the room, unless one is an actual human robot or an idiot.
I had to offer all kinds of crap when I was a car salesman, and yes we were audited (the customer was expected to sign a form saying they didn't want this that and the other), but I never ever pushed a customer to do it or pushed the products if there was little interest.
Whats the point? It just sours the whole exciting experience of buying a new car.

Bought a £7K TV (OLED WALLPAPER, thinnest tv ever made) from the local Indian electronics store. Paid for installation.

They drilled 10 additional holes into the wall and broke the TV in the process (snapped it on purpose, think they was jealous).

Wall mounted it myself after getting a replacement.
Few years later got vertical banding.

Took them 6 attempts to try and take the TV.

Few lessons learnt
(i) don't buy from the local Indian electronics store
(ii) don't buy a bespoke TV that people have never heard of, as they probably don't have the processes in place if things go wrong.

Yep, there was two of them. Literally delivery men for a £7k TV.

One of them was slightly more competent than the other, the other was a complete imbecile.
They attempted to put it on the wall, and I saw him bending the TV on purpose. I told him to stop. Then it snapped. They took it away.

Called customer service, mentioned what happened, they sent me a replacement and I installed it.. literally the easiest install. Only reason why I didn't was because it was "free" install.

Ah bummer, when I buy my £7k tellies from Curry's they always send me the £7k+ installation team.

Lol

This was a very bespoke TV. Very specific type of install. You would expect them to have some sort of training on it. They did not have a F clue.
The one guy who snapped the TV was a right numpty.

You bought a £7k tv from Currys. As crap as it sounds, I'd expect nothing less from that absolute abortion of a company.

I wouldn't buy a mouse mat from them.

Don't!
I'm trying very hard not to swap my S 1000R for a M 1000R or a Tuono Factory, and you posting that doesn't help

I've already got my work cut out convincing @Hades' wife to let him buy a bike, adding you to the list is small change :D

*cough*

Yeah, lesson learnt :p

My hatred of that dumpster fire of a company is fairly well documented on here :D
