UK Duke Nukem now unlocking on Steam- Go Go Go!!

Just been told that it's waiting for me at home after I finish work

Yeah it may not be the best game ever, yeah the graphics are dated and yeah the gameplay may suffer due to the various design decisions made over the years... but if it’s a fun blast to play I’ll be a happy man.

The main thing is that it's finally out. We can finally play it (or choose not to) and then move on.

It is done.

Watched a 45 minute playthough on youtube (I can't link it as it contains swearing) and it looked dire.

I'm a few hours into the game ( just killed the demon queen ) and I have to say the graphics do look quite dated now. But I expected this, I bought it for the game play. Unfortunately the game play did not make up for it! Sure it was fun for the first hour but now its just meh... perhaps it will grow on me, I shall see.

why is the average price of a new game now £30 what happened to £20 average! or even £10/£15 :(

Since when was £10 average for new games? I remember paying £60 for super nintendo games back in the day... well I remember my parents paying £60 for super nintendo games back in the day. :p

+1

The majority of games are cheaper now than they've ever been. Especially with pre-order discounts and prices that drop like stones.

PC games have always been about £30 on release as far as I can remember. Few low budget or special cases but £30 has always been the norm.

PC games circa 1993 weren't much more than £12 for new releases. I was already ordering from mail order companies by then (and I was only 13 years old :p) because it was so much cheaper than high street stores.

Mail-order was the pre-cursor to online stores; you just had to buy a PC magazine to see their adverts.

I remember playstation 1 games were 20 quid new.

I remember N64 games being 50 quid new.

Can't remember the prices of the mega-drive/nes games, or the original gameboy?

Was it the cartridge that made the 64 games so much more than the PS?
