UK Gladiators - 2024 reboot

In reality the show will cost a shed load of mo ey to make and adding another episode will not come cheap.

I did query earlier on this thread why 8th Feb got skipped and it turned out it was due to a sporting event. There should be no question about the rest of this season being aired because it was recorded last year. The episodes are still pulling around 5 million in viewing figures.

Forgot to add to my last post - still no sign of Hammer (new male Glad).

It was the mighty Newcastle playing Birmingham in the FA cup

I mentioned as soon as you posted, there was a sports ball game on.

It was no different to last season in the number of episodes.

5m viewers is not a lot in the terms of how much these programmes cost, particularly on terrestrial TV.

New glad was teased at the end of the last episode. You must not have watched to the end ;)

I love how they had to find a new zoom out level to show Viper and the contestant on unleash, and yet he still wasn't far behind at the end. That event seems incredibly glad biased. soldier boy was a bit of a **** today, sure the glads will be looking forward to tackling him in the QF.

I did (to the end) but somehow totally missed the Hammer teaser.

So... his entrance tonight was quite something, keeping with the WWE style. He also appeared in 2 events and showed a promising start :-)

On Dual, when the commentator said "the forecast is unpredictable", he should have said "the forecast is Cyclone", as she nailed it once again.

The men's Hang Tough was quite something. In the ladies, Athena did pretty good.

I'm pleased with both Eliminator outcomes. They'd both make good finalists.

People still watching this? Thread has gone a bit quiet.

I'll put it in spoiler tag in case anyone hasn't caught up yet.

Glad to see Andy out after his comments when Giant got injured.

Will be interesting to see which of the remaining male contenders make it to the final depending on who versus who.

I'm still watching it - still enjoyable for the most part.

Only thing a bit grating is the amount of gladiators now "trash talking", previously it was just legend and that made him a bit unique, but Apollo doing the same is just a bit cringe

Yeah still watching, Think the quarters were pretty good, still think Unleash needs some tweaks though. Watching people trip on the wall or get caught tottering up some stairs is less fun. Sub minute eliminator was incredibly impressive.

That guy has to be one of the favourites alongside the gymnast. I’m not sure how the brackets are worked out but if they are put together in the semi, I’d expect a disappointing final.

The female bracket looks more open, i think that is up for grabs by all 4.

Unleashed is tricky, there certainly seems to be a good amount of luck to it. But given how often the contenders win (compared to say duel or hang tuff where the glads dominate), they appear to have tested the delay for unleashing the gladiator quite well. Some of the glads are rapid, Eletro and Fire in particular.

Perhaps remove the requirement to take every step but then I think it would be almost impossible for the glad to pull the flag off the contender as there will be an increased height difference.

I was thinking it’s more to nullify the height advantage a lot of the glads have over the contender.

Outside of Dynamite and Athena who don’t do this event, they are all pretty tall.

I've been catching up after a few weekends away.

I like the newest event which re-uses the atlaspheres. Think it's called Crash Course?

Legend is becoming more like Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter, very much full of himself. He is my favourite out of the males though. Athena is still my favourite out of the females and I noticed she's improved in this series. 2nd favourite would be Comet.

Tonight, both of the male contenders were called Joe.

The end credits said that you can log onto the BBC/Glads web site to apply as a contender, which implies that we'll get a 3rd series in this new run.

Athena has definitely had a bit of makeover between series 1 and 2.

Quite fit now

Hoping Joe Fishburn wins, as he's my sons old gymnast coach and was always a very nice guy when I used to chat with him a few years ago.

I know it's easy to say as a spectator but I'm sure the Gladiators need to practise a lot more on the wall, they should be able to practically fly up it without even having to look for their holds.

The thing is they’re all so built for the ‘look’ and other events that benefit. Heavy builds don’t fly up a climbing wall like racing snake builds
