UK holidays

Cornwall, last time we went to the Padstow area, lovely beaches and nice clear water. Want to go back and visit Tintagel as it was closed due to them rebuilding the bridge.

Peak District, worth doing for Jacobs Ladder & Kinder Scout then back down for a meal and a couple of pints in the pub in Edale.

Yorkshire is always stunning, nice walks around the fells. Aysgarth falls is lovely.

Lake District, Dovedale is absolutely stunning. Weather very random!

Did Northumberland last year, much flatter than many other places, easier walking though! Holy Island was interesting.

Not been abroad for a few years but would quite like to go on some walking holidays in Europe.

Avoid going away in the UK at all costs if I can as just depressing and expensive. Get much better value abroad...and they are not dumps like the UK.

I don't mean to be snobby but I work with someone who with him and his wife combined must be earning over £100k yet choose to go away on their main holidays in their Caravan to Wales or places in Devon like Paignton. Just sounds kinda depressing to me.

However, for day trips go the Cotswolds sometimes usually walk the lower to upper slaughters as a lot quieter there....otherwise don't mind the north of Cornwall and Dartmouth in Devon imo is the best place in the UK....London of course for day trips can't beat it.

Always fancied the Lake District but just can't justify the prices of a weekend there when I can go to Mallorca for cheaper with flights and accommodation.

It's worth it if you like hiking.

Issue I see is a lot of people complain about the prices etc, but never go on a proper walk. I think it's worth every penny for the landscape/scenery and hikes.

Haha funny I was going to say any UK airport carpark
The holiday starts at that point

Actually planning an autumn break in Scotland as opposed to a bit of early winter sun this year.

I need to find a new cattery first though...

You realise tickets need not be return, and indeed one way are usually cheaper? No need to flagellate yourself constantly here in the purgatory of England old boy ;)

For quite a few years me and the wife have been using Lochs & Glens and Leon's Coach holidays.
They are a great way to go to a place and then every day they take you to different places so you get to see loads of stuff.
The only problem is that at the age of 65 & 64 me and the wife could be the youngest on the coach :)
It doesn't bother us.

Plenty of stunning places in the UK. What's great about Mallorca?

With clear skies and lots of Sun the UK can be absolutely amazing for 2 week holiday.
The two main issues are of course highly unpredictable weather and expensive. Therefore with the balance of probability being better abroad and for similar prices, you may as well go abroad.

If the UK was cheaper it wouldn't be so bad but booking an amazing place several months in advance only to get grey skies and cold 15-20 degree weather is not great but even more annoying when it was 30 with clear skies the week before.

Where in the UK could you go for 2 weeks that would be absolutely amazing? 2 weeks in Cornwall would be boring as anything not to mention the parking, the crowds, the cost etc....can't even go snorkeling in the sea as it's full of crap and freezing cold.

About a million things better about a holiday in Mallorca then the UK... great weather, little traffic and queues, much much cheaper, sea you can actually swim in and go snorkeling, mountains, outdoor swimming pools which you don't see in the UK really...it's just way way better then a UK holiday and it's only 1hour 50 mins on a plane!! That's just one example. Greece, Croatia, Albania, Portugal, Bulgaria, Turkey all are much better holiday locations then the UK for probably half the price
