The controls are on the cord... so you cant replace the headphones for better ones???

Apple seem to be making some very 'unique' decisions with their products at the moment. IMHO, they are definitely for the worse.

It's actually a bit of a masterstroke by Apple, even if it isn't in the consumers interest (Consumers interest? > See LordSplodges laughing above!). What is the part of most people's MP3 players you see walking about, on the bus, on the train, etc? The headphones. And Apples headphones are VERY distinctive. By forcing the user to keep those headphones they increase the visual userbase walking around.

I think it will go down just fine, iPods are now general consumer devices. Apple do not have to please the tech crowd anymore and the general public won't care where the controls are.
