I'm planning on taking the current Mrs Django to that there Londinium in October, and whilst no stranger to some of the usual touristy things, we're hoping to do something a little bit different.

She knows she's going, but she doesn't know what's planned.

Currently on the list:

3 night stay in the Corinthia
Tower of London for the lols
Helicopter ride across London
Madame Tussauds
West end show (probably Mamma Mia as she's seen the film but not the musical)
Evening dinner one night at the OXO, not sure about the other night(s)
London Eye champagne tasting just to fill 30 minutes up
Ronnie Scotts one evening depending on whats on (their October list isn't up yet)

Hopefully some recommendations from you fair folk about slightly different experiences....

If the weathers good it will take you most of the day just to get in the door of Madame Tussauds.

Why ?

Tourists who refuse to queue pushing in at the front.

Corinthia, helicopter ride.. ? Somebody is angling for some rumpy pumpy on this trip :p

That's some serious moolah there.

The Maltby Street market (only open Fri-Sun) is excellent and not anywhere near as touristy as Borough, although they're quite close so you could do both.

I've never been but if you're wanting to do dinner with a view then it might be worth looking at Duck & Waffle.

Park wise I would suggest avoiding Hyde Park, maybe branch a little further out to places like Greenwich Park (if you go up the top you get a nice skyline view), Regents Park to name a couple.

Go to a supermarket.
Ride a bus.
Sit In library.
Get a job, any temp office job.
Go to a pub.
Order a Chinese, eat it with a plastic fork.
Go to the gym.
Take a dog for a walk.

These are some great un touristy things to do in London.

Avoid Madame Tussauds - I'd suggest a museum or a gallery or two.
For a West End show I'd probably recommend Wicked, Aladdin or The Book of Mormon.

How about some afternoon tea somewhere?

Tut at people standing on the lefthand side of the esclator.

(or maybe take a narrowboat from Camden down Regents Canal?)

Go for walk around Regents park have coffee or even a picnic, then head up Primrose Hill and end up at Camden.

Some of these are a bit tourist but hey ho...

Natural History Museum

Imperial War Museum

Riverboat trip (there are regular commuter boats where you can stand out the back with a beer/wine and watch London pass by).

Walk from Tower Bridge to the South Bank and Westminster. It's a lovely walk in the sun (Oct may be a bit rainy though).

You sound like you know your food. Borough market and a tour of Vinopolis is a nice way to spend some time.
