Hi,

I have an 80Gb Segate Barracuda, SATA, and had a bit of trouble copying files off it etc, and when I tried to install Vista on it, it just completely messed up. CheckDisk was running everytime I booted up, and finding lots of faults (which it corrected).
I deleted the partition that was on there and went to format it, through windows. It went all the way up to 100% but then gave the message "Windows was unable to format the drive". Same thing happened 2nd time round.
anything you can recommend trying? Any other programs worth a go?

Cheers

Format it outside of windows. Generally means you have to use a bootup disk, UBCD is a good one to get.

There are hard drive utilities among multiple others that can come in handy.

Test the hard drive in DOS with the HD manufactures drive fitness tool. No ones gonna know how to test and repair the drive better than the people that manufactured it in the first place :p
