Unable to game online with USB tethered 4G

Yes, browsing works fine.
Forgot to add that as well as ArmA, I can't use Discord while tethered.
Well after attempting to connect for a few minutes, it just says can't connect and asks me if I want to troubleshoot, which I do. It tests all the different protocols without success.
Hitting the hay now but will do that tomorrow.
Thanks for your patience :)

Good shout. I wasn't really sure which section to post in. Thanks for your help anyway! :)

Could a mod please move this thread there or is there someone I can contact to do that?

Ok so....

What on earth is all this 64:ff9b:: shizzle??

Tried manually adding in Windows and it couldn't connect.

I called EE tech support and the lady (as nice as she was) was useless. She didn't even know what a port was (not that I do, I merely quoted something a mate suggested about certain ports being blocked by providers  )

Interesting, that shows as IPV6 addresses I believe and not IPV4.... That might explain some of the problems :D

I think maybe onto something...

For a start, Steam has limited IPV6 support.

EE do run IPV6 on supported handsets.

I am not aware though if Android allows to drop down to IPV4 by default.

What is the model of your phone?

I've fiddled around with the APN settings (after googling the EE settings) and changed it to ipv6. It was on ipv4/ipv6 before.

Right, need to reinstall Vypr now and try again as I reset all networks.

It's a OnePlus 6T btw

Can you connect to the VPN now?

Out of interest does Steam show any servers now?

Also, reboot PC and phone if not done so since changing to IPV4 and reset networks.

Right so, I hadn't rebooted PC. No servers showing in Steam, no connection with VPN and no Discord.

I'll reset networks and reboot and try again.

Posting to this thread is likely to be more fun than trying to play Arma3 on 4G surely? It's frustrating enough being sniped by 3 pixels a mile away as it is :p

Heh fair point, but counter-sniping said pixel from 1.4km away with an HK417 DMR that one of your squad mates spotted for you with a FLIR equipped drone makes the odd wtf h4x moment worth it ;)

You are nearly there... definitely the ipv6 was not helping and it is partially resolving the ipv4 address now.

Disable your ethernet adapter (assuming one is present) and reboot the PC.

This thing is sending me mad, nevermind you :D

IPV6 will cause problems with online gaming, Steam BARELY supports ipv6.

However, it seems when you enable the ipv4, it breaks the connection in other ways so is either EE causing the issue OR the way Android is handling the tethering or maybe both.

Isn't resetting networks the same as disabling? If not, how would I go about doing this?

Haha I really do appreciate the help, and if this gets resolved I'll show my gratitude with a choice from a list of Steam games I have :)

Just buy a cheap usb wifi adaptor and use your phone as a hotspot. I am on ee and do this with zero problems.
