Hi
I had an absolute nightmare when my last pc died and after a lot of effort was unable to get it running. So I gave in and purchased a prebuilt system from OC. I had problems running Stalker which was jumping, freezing and eventually crashing. I thought it was just Stalker playing up so went and got a copy of Bioshock but this won't even get through the intro.
Its fine until I hit the water... If I set it at 1024x768 with min settings it will go through the whole intro. If I put high settings (1024x768) its OK in the water until about the time the propeller goes past. If I change the res to 1680x1050 it screws up as soon as I hit the water no matter what the settings. The game gets different colour blocks appearing, jumps and eventually locks up completely which sometimes effects windows even after I kill the Bioshock process.
I posted in the GFX forum as I was randomly getting a nv4_display error but I don't get any sort of error now. The only thing I have noticed is that all four CPU's seem to max out for a while when I check task manager.
I have tried a fresh install, the newest drivers and taking the overclock off my CPU without any success. I got this PC because I didn't want to have to mess around and just play some games but its never that easy. I should be able to play Bioshock at 1680x1050 without to much hassle. Can anyone give any advice on a resolution or any tests I can run to narrow the problem?
Thanks,
Cheesy.
