Me likes, you taking advanced orders?

This is a funny thread -

LOOK at the actual article.

This fee is to recover a stolen vehicle from the side of the road or wherever it is found. It is not the Police's responsibility to move your vehicle from wherever it is found from back to a place where forensics can be carried out.

Cars can and will be still fingerprinted at the side of the road or whatever for fingerprints, simple as that! If you want to recover your own vehicle from the side of the road back to your vehicle to wait on fingerprinting people, then theres next to no point in even doing it as any DNA/fingerprint evidence will most likely have been contaminated/rubbed away.

Typical knee jerk reaction.

This is new
I forked out close to 300 hundred to get my car released from a garage, thieving scumbag left it somewere obstrucing a highway, thats 100 for recovery, and something like 15 a day storage, took the police a week to get around to looking at it, then i couldnt come to collect the car for a few more days as it was a fair distance and i was working. Thats back in 2004

Why do the insurance companies not cover it

i agree with this....

If their forensic tests are worth £105, then surely this is because they are likely to find the thieves, so surely the charges should be paid by them when they go to court. In a similar way to "No win no fee" - it should be "no conviction no charge !"

Wrong, and wrong again.

If a vehicle is reported stolen, and then found.. why would it not be a police matter? its a crime that has been commited, and on every car theres is the potential for forensic evidence on both the outside and inside.. if its found, its the polices responsibility to move the vehicle to search it.

What worries me is just how desperate for money are the police and the treasury to bring in these ridiculous schemes. These policies are bound to make unfavourable headlines but they still press ahead. I suspect this Labour government will leave leadership with the UK nearly bankrupt as previous Labour governments have left it.

Car crime has also halved.

So its not like the costs were escalating out of control with increasing car theft.

Yet another example of cyincal money grabbing in this country.

What on earth is happening to the UK?

hideous....... !!!!

(gota say my favorite word...)

what on earth is it comming to, there just seems to be little to no improvement these days!!!

It amazes me how little the police actually do, my mate got a quater of a bottle of spirits smashed on his face and a brick thrown at his face (resulting in stitches and cuts all over his face) for no reason by some drunk lads looking for a fight. The police have done nothing to the lads, just an over nighter for drunk and disorderly. Seing that does not surprise me one bit.

As has been said, this would just go on top of insurance, unless they write in a disclaimer. Althought this will undoubtedly result in premiums getting a 5% hike in this rip off of a country
