Hi Guys,
So as the title suggests,I bought my 2nd 7970 last night from OCUK and it arrived today.I bought the HIS ice-q version but my excitement was short lived.I opened the box to see the card, without an anti-static bag, wedged circuit board down into the foam. After some very careful pulling (breath held) I managed to get it free.Did all the usual (clean driver install, driver sweeper, etc) but once the windows is starting black screen goes and the blue loading screen kicks in it hangs for a couple of seconds the the screen goes all acid trip.I can remove it and stick my ref XFX card straight in and all is fine.tried both pci slots and all number of different config's but its just not having it.My guess is its a re-shelved return. Not happy about this as expected.I know mistakes are made and the nature of the game means I will get faulty gear every once in a while but I paid £350 and did not want someones returns, working or not.Come on OCUK,sort it out!

Fair enough.Sorry Rusty, its all boxed up ready to ship now.The screen had little red and green squares all over it though if that means anything? That and what looked like tv no signal fuzz but multi-coloured.

how do you know its not a customer return?

Oh and the box looked like the seal sticker had been opened before.I am still inclined to think it was a return.

Because it's illegal to sell on a return as new and I doubt any large company would be stupid enough to do it.

If they were caught it would completely toxify the brand.

It isn't a return. My HIS IceQ wasn't sealed either. I'm inclined to say only EVGA seal their GPUs now.

Don't put two and two together and get five :).

Fair enough - it's faulty though.

My new 7950 Gigabyte unsealed box but with foam insert and anti static sealed bag, only with selotapey stuff though. Was surprised to see it at 1000MHz clock instead of 900MHz as it is supposed to be. :D
